Paris 1970

same post as page 12 [www.iorr.org]

here are the 23.9.70 broadcast by Europe 1 radio re-aired in june 95.

First an amazing performance by Buddy Guy and Clapton ! + MJ and Johnny Halliday interviews !

[rcpt.yousendit.com]

Second Brown Sugar with a @#$%& Taylor solo. Incomplete for just a few seconds as the host had spoken so I cut it off.

[rcpt.yousendit.com]

I Imagine a deluxe release with the 1st act like for the Yaya's release with Guy + Clapton guest and the Stones show.

The Paris affair 22.9.70 is from that recording but in bad quality as the FM did not exist here at the time. It was aired on Grandes Ondes in bad mono.

Thanks! I love those powerful '70 live versions of Brown Sugar. Lots of great guitar playing. By '73 it sounded more polished but not quite the same amount of energy. Taylor is on fire on this one.

They should have released this on their RARITIES CD. In my opinion it is one of the best live versions I ever heard! After all therese years I was completely stunned! Due to the bad bootlegs from that tour I never had an idea of how great they were back then. MERCI!

Incredible. Blown away. The earliest real "Brown Sugar" versions. It is striking that Taylor has the solo, and not Bobby. Hard to hear Taylor on the SG in the MONO mix.
It has Charlie's Ya-Ya's drumsound. But Bill is playing different than he plays the song later on.
If the Stones are sitting on a 1970 era recording I wish that they'd release that more than anything. More than Mocambo.

In some ways the 1970 concerts were an extension of the 1969 concerts, the playing and the sound. Hope they will release a nice stereo 1970 concert.

1971 seems to be a transitional year in their sound until we reach the excesses of the 1972 - 73 concerts. I like their 1971 sound also so hope we get a live release from this year too.

You're welcome. However at the time I had Fm reception problems so it is not perfect.
Now you know that Europe 1 radio has the complete show with this quality like they have the musicoramas.

Vancouver I mention that this show is on Paris Affair boot but it is complete on Royal Dragon bonus as it seems

In fact I have a doubt. Royal dragon extra is sept 23 but Paris affair is sept 24. So if you can compare both Bs version to check if it's the same...

hum very interesting.
I compared with The Paris affair which is in fact sept 22, 70 (not 24).
The backstage report aired at the time which is track n°1 has a shortened Mick interview and you have none of the Buddy Guy part.
But Clapton did joined for one song on sept 22
see this [www.angelfire.com]

The Brown Sugar posted here is from 23 for sure and not 22 or 24. It is the same as SOME LIKE It HOT vgp 044.

What's important is that Europe 1 has the recordings of sept 22, 23 in excellent quality. That would make a very nice double cd set...or a great Stones Archives flac files to download.

I do not remember if sept 24 is a soundboard too ?

I a a bit confused now.
The VGP "Paris Affair" I know says it comes from Sept. the 22th ,1970 AND Radio Broadcast by EUROPE 1

Yes Paris affair is sept 22 and some like it hot is sept 23. Both taped and maybe aired on Europe 1. At least 22.
Sept 24 is on Rock and roll over Paris but only in good audience quality.
