That's great. You ordered from Amazon.co.uk?

I'm just thinking of all the poor buggers in the UK who may be stuck with the PAL sped-up version. No need for worry if it's NTSC Region 0.

I ordered it here : [www.jpc.de]

but you´re right, amazon uk and germany both notes PAL.
Maybe they just were sloppy to mention about NTSC...

Probably for the best. Then we can compare the PAL, NTSC & Blu Ray versions to see if they have the same running time.

IE

Shine A Light PAL DVD = 117 mins
NTSC DVD version = 121 mins

Therefore there is 4 % PAL speed-up.

I don't know how smart it is to release an NTSC only version of Live In Texas DVD in Europe. How many of the population can actually play NTSC DVDs?

My living room UK dvd player plays all regions. It didn't when it was new but then I found a code/hack off a website that made it multi-region. It could already play NTSC from new as well as PAL, so I suspect NTSC ability is probably widespread in Europe these days.

I wonder if computer dvd drives can handle both NTSC and PAL. I believe my Mac can. They really should abolish this regions thing though. It's annoying when a computer gives you 5 changes to the region then your stuck on the last one you use. My computer does this and it's a new one this year.

Just got the Some Girls deluxe edition and the Live In Texas DVD/CD combo.

Listening to the CD right now....yeah....!
Can´t say yet about some edits or cut offs...

Combo comes in DVD digipack style including two booklets, one in DVD size, second CD format.

The CD one contains beside the center shot eleven pictures from ´75 tour.
Take it with some humour...

Can you verify whether or not the CD in the DVD/CD combo contains audio from the live gig or is it the studio album?

Has anyone bought this in UK / Europe? Is the disk Region 0 / NTSC?

My L&G and Stones In Exile DVDs bought from amaxon.co.uk are Region 0 / NTSC, I happily noticed, and these were I think the only versions on sale to uk customers by amazon. I just hope the Some Girls DVD will also be NTSC and not PAL.

Can someone clarify?

I am in the UK and have a multi-region UK DVD player....re both Ladies and Gentlemen and
Live in Texas, where the choice exists, is it better for me to get an NTSC or a PAL version?

From what I read above it's NTSC, which confuses me since PAL is the standard in the UK.

Many thanks

Recieved my copy yesterday and the film is a masterpiece. Any young person starting a band would benefit highly from watching this. The very essence of everything that is great about popular music. I can't think of anyone else who came close to being this great.

If you're talking about the live in Texas DVD/CD combo then it contains the live gig.

NTSC since the PAL version will have 4% PAL speed up.

Hi bobcat, I believe most if not all recent uk DVD players (and computer drives) will play both PAL and NTSC discs. I'm guessing the uk player somehow converts NTSC data to PAL to enable it to work on a uk television.

So NTSC is best to avoid playback speed error!

However, what's on sale is confusing...

Amazon.co.uk :-

DVD, "1 disc", £13.99 - NTSC, all regions
DVD, "1 disc", £12.47 - PAL, region 2

Play.com :-

DVD+CD, £11.99 - Region 2
DVD, £11.91 - region 2

All I want is an NTSC DVD with an audio CD. :-(

I wonder if the Amazon.co.uk NTSC dvd package does include the live udio CD. The listing used to say 2 discs, now it says 1 disc.

Check out shortfatfanny's posts. He ordered from jpc.de and DVD/CD combo he received was NTSC.

How about Otis Redding Live at the Monterey Pop Festival?

I may do that, Youngie.
However I've just been in an online Chat with Amazon.co.uk and they confirm that the £13.99 NTSC DVD package does include the CD.

Phew, that's sorted then.

Ok uk buyers, this is the one to get:-

Bluray arrived today !

great packaging. It contains the buray and the live performance on cd.

Currently watching. Great sound and very energetic show !! image is great too for a 78 thing. It is not crystal clear (like Ladies and Gent is in bluray too) as a HD recording could be. But what a nice surprise.

Beast of burden is amazing.

Seems Mick has some stuff in the pants. Do not understand Keith's Life statement spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

The Who at the London Coliseum '69 (on the Kilburn DVD) & Judas Priest "Live Vengeance '82" (to name just two) are around Live In Texas' level.

i just got mine from amazon.uk and can confirm that it's region 0 NTSC - excellent!
the only trouble is that the plastic "lining" cracked in transit
so i have the fun of returning it for a replacement :[

but! the bits i've listened to sound & look freakin fantastic -
they ~*really*~ cleaned up the sound & footage, didn't they?!

i love the Rolling Stones

Last time they were a realll band to me. Keith was still Keith here if hoarse on stage if not yet in the studio. Last time he looked good too. By 1979 he went through major changes. Even the SNL footage he was different. Must have been the fall sessions where he stayed up all those nights and fell on his face. Still how did his hair curl? We must be told!

Yeah, the bonus stuff is the only little downer of this great DVD. There is much more good (interview) material existing from that time . .

Yeah and it make me think that it's great to get these promo videos in the best quality available. Maybe it's time now for a remastered REWIND video, I'd always love it !
