Wayne Perkins article

Very interesting article about Wayne Perkins, the Stones, Bob Marley and others. He played the solo on Hand of Fate among others...

Great story.
Hope he has more to add to his amazing resume'..

About as close to becoming a Rolling Stone as one could get.

*also- interesting posts in the comment section (including one from his sister) One post quoting him as saying if he'd become a Stone he'd have been a rich, dead, rock star.. similar fate with Lynyrd Skynrd.

Thanks, a great read about a great guitar player. Didn't know he'd spent that much time with Keith in London. I thought he was only around at the Rotterdam/Munich sessions. Hard to tell if Some Girls would have happened with him...that Crimson Tide thing he did around that time sounds pretty awful :-(

Thanks! An interesting read. Makes me realize that I haven't really known much about Wayne Perkins.

Funny thing, during my huge reggae/Bob Marley period, I recall listening to CATCH A FIRE and being amazed how cool guitar there is especially in "Concrete Jungle" and "Stir It Up" - though if memory serves, CATCH A FIRE was a bit looked down by 'real' reggae fans and critics, since there was too much 'butchering up' in a studio by 'non-authentic' session musicians, ending up watering down the 'real thing' (never bothered me, though). So Wayne was one of those 'guilty ones' haha...

Hey, the thread is not OT!grinning smiley

He lives about 45 minutes from my house, but I've never met him, but had met some of his cousins at my nephews wedding, and talked to them about getting to me him....
