It just goes to show how it all comes down to taste. I really love December's Children, Always Suffering, Gomper, Rock and a Hard Place, and Has Anybody Seen My Baby. But I thought the whole of ABB was so bad it wasn't even worth ripping from the library's copy, let alone buying.

Never liked it either. Kinda jock-rock or frat-rock. Ech.

Oh, most of "Metamorphosis" barring the Taylor contributions.
The Stones DON'T need a studio band. More "Puke from the Past".

I wonder what Charlie would think is their worst?

( He's far too polite to oblige. )

I can't dislike, or even 'hate' anything from the early days. The missteps are almost more charming than the successes. I love the syrupy strings in "My Girl"; that terrible choice of a cover. The organ intro to "Time is on my Side". The off key BU vocals in "Tell Me"; those bizarre drumbeats in "Im Free". "Empty Heart" and "Good Times Bad Times" are bad, bad songs haha..And I listen to them quite often.
This Get-Free-Card is valid for many years with me.
I guess that is why I will sit through Jagger growling "Some People Tell Me", or "Disco Music", or the interminable two chords of "Munich Hilton", or is it "Munich Reggae"?
It's not until I stated feeling that they knew what they didn't know; that they started acting it all out, that I could not like a song.
"Blinded by Love" is unlistenable. The ridiculous lyrics, and the over production.
Same goes for "Rock and Hard Place".
"Hold Back" is so bad, tuneless and grating, and again - the lyrics. Is Jagger trying to re-write "Sympathy" again and again with these historic refernces?
How about "Losing my Touch"? I have this rule that I will never switch off or fast- forward a Stones cut when it comes on (unless I am scanning a bootleg), but "Losing" is unbearable for me. "And "Infamy" isn't much better. I think Keith sings different when it is in the Stones. Solo he is better.

I don't know about the studio version but I think the live version of Rock And A Hard Place on Flashpoint is great. Nothing outstanding but I always find myself getting into it when I hear it on that album.

Sweet NeoCon is good....people just are averse to the lyrics..

Trust me, its not because of any political aversion to them. Its because they read like the rantings of a 12 year old with Tourettes Syndrome. 'Dangerous Beauty' , by contrast, is very clever.

The worst song theyve ever released was Hold Back. Their only song with absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. Its like theyre thrashing and gnarling in the dark in a futile search for something resembling a tune.

I had A Bigger Bang on in the car today and heard Streets of Love and Sweet Neo COn and decided to make a list of the ten worst Stones songs in my opinion

1. Streets Of Love
2. Fight
3. Hold Back
4. Sweet Neo Con
5. Back To Zero
6. Cherry Oh Baby
7. Suck On the Jugular
8. Going Home
9. Winning Ugly
10. Infamy

Your list almost matches mine exactly. I would replace Cherry & Infamy, since I live both of those, w/ Sex Drive & Following The River. (BTW, despite what others are saying, Going Home does indeed suck, for the most part)

Slew, we seem to agree on a lot of this!!
here's my edit...

Sweet Neo Con - worse than anything off of Dirty Work
Keys to Your Love - worst Jagger Ballad, ever.
Streets of Love - 2nd worst Jagger Ballad, ever.
Back To Zero - worse than anything off of Primitive Cool.
Hold Back - this isn't a song, it's garbage.
Cherry Oh Baby - this is NOT good, people. Worst fake reggae I've EVER heard and Charlie's worst drum performance I may add
Suck On the Jugular - lowest point of Voodo Lounge without a doubt.
I Go Wild - so, so dumb. Dumb... and boring.
Everything is Turning to Gold - listening to it is a bloody chore, annoying as hell.

In all honesty, I'd put that in my top 20. I absolutely love it.

the first five you picked plus Jugular would be on my bottom 20 list as well.

<sigh> all the hate for Hold Back...............

Can't believe no one has mentioned "Indian Girl", (or maybe I missed it) .

My pet stinker is 'Fingerprint File'. Faux funk, blah...

I enjoyed this thread. It really does come to taste. I used to hate "Miss You" but over the years I have come around to liking it. With that said, IMHO the worst song ever released by the Stones was "Sex Drive" on the FlashPoint cd, but that disk does have a killer Start Me Up version.

I missed those two awful ones from Forty Licks. I'd totally forgotten about 'em. THANKS A LOT!

As somebody else said, everything prior to 1970 gets a pass. They were trying to find their sea legs.

If You Really Want to Be My Friend. I will never be this song's friend!

Melody. It doesn't have one!

Back to Zero. It sounds like a She's The Boss leftover. Bad lyrics. Bad vocals. Bad synths. Bad production. I could go on.

Wanna Hold You. When I fist got Undercover, I skipped all the other songs and gave this the first listen...hoping for Little T&A Part II. Boy was I disappointed. Syrupy nonsense.

Suck on the Jugular. Just embarrassing.

Blinded by Rainbows. War Baby sequel. Yuck.

Bridges to Babylon, tracks 1-13.

A Bigger Bang, tracks 1-16

Following that logic The Beatles would get a pass for their whole career

I have a list of not so creative songs from Stones here:

Sweet Neo Con
Hold Back
Too Rude
Back to Zero
Dirty Work
Summer Romance
Can't Be Seen
Wish I'd never met You
Too Tough

Don't make a CD for the car with this songs....Dangerous boring....

The acid test would be if they tried to play some of the clunkers live today smiling smiley

1. I'd Much Rather Be With The Boys (Luckily, they never considered keeping this)
2. Congratulations (childish, la la la)
3. Gunface (Repulsive, awful guitar sound, stupid melody line)
4. Cool, Calm, Collected (Stupid and childish)
5. Suck On The Jugular (It's downright not-swinging)
6. On With The Show (Not charming)
7. Back To Zero (Could have been a mediocre funk track if it wasn't for the horrendous and tasteless production)
8. Stealing My Heart (copying Spin Doctors is simply a low in the Stones' career)

PS: Can't find 10 songs smiling smiley

Without any doubt the song "Emotional Rescue", awkward ... Stones going Bee Gees, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John ...

i never understood why they edited out the pretty viola solo interlude in the middle...it WAS the one redeeming feature....

Wha – ?

"Miss You"? "Fingerprint File"? "If You Really Want to Be My Friend"?
"Dance Pt 1"? "Rough Justice"? Well, well, well ... Ha!

"Emotional Rescue" is mostly frat rock, watered-down corporate rock ... ECHHH ...

"See What Happens" ... well, nothing did or ever will. There's plenty
O'Crap on "Steel Wheels" too. "Sad Sad Sad"? Yeah, the song.

Gotta admit that salvo shot with "Some Girls" had a painful Aftermath in releases.

I agree with you for the most part, but 'We Want The Stones' has to be one of the GREATEST 13-second-long releases in rock n' roll history!
