Best Non-Wyman Bass Performance

"Sympathy" by Keith has to be on top, but also love his part on "Casino Boogie", as weird as it is. Taylor's "Tumbling Dice" and Ronnie's "Emotional Rescue" also worth noting...

Stray Cat Blues? I'm guessing that's Keith. Does anyone know for sure?

Is it? "Live With Me" is Keith as well.

Tumbling Dice by Taylor. Also Bill Plummer in Rip This Joint. Does he count?

"Best post Wyman bass performance" goes to Jeff Sarli for "Too Tight"

"Best overall non-Wyman bass performance" goes to Ron Wood for the song "Emotional Rescue". I know it's a controversial choice but that bassline is great.

Jumping Jack Flash. It's Keith playing in a Wyman style.

Yeah they really need some help in the bass department, Mick playing the bass on ABB certainly didn't help with the musicianship!

Who's on Out of Control? Can't be "The Munch" can it? That's a pretty good bass line with a good sound.

I was going to make that point.
Fingerprint File, Emotional rescue etc are all very good, but they are almost their own song. I like the Stones-y basslines, that are a just a driving truck under the rock. When Keith does it like Bill.

Yeah another vote for Fingerprint File. Amazing. That song is some deep funk. Great voodoo swamp grind. Some beautiful bass runs. Also agree with Pulmer on Rip This Joint. One of the all time great 70's rock vamps. Fast and furious held down with an Elvis like rockabilly bass line.

God, I was thinking that you are asking the best post-Wyman-gig the Stones have performed. And now we suppose to listen through all the bootlegs from 1994 to 2007... >grinning smiley<

Sorry, I meant on a record. I should have made that clearer...

I like that, although I prefer Flip The Switch over Too Tight.

Whenever I listen to Keith's bass track on "Casino Boogie", the word 'rubbery' pops in my mind. That bassline sounds rubbery. It's great.
It sounds very much like a McCartney bass style.

That is high praise indeed. McCartney's bass lines are gorgeous. Just for example:

I can hear Paul's style in there but that sounds much like Paul on the Rick.
To me the 'Paul' sound is him on the Hofner with that thumpy, non sustained sound, and flat-wound strings. Keith is obviously not playing that, but the sound, and also something in the performance reminds me of Paul. I think that it sounds so overdubbed, and the odd timing in the breaks. I like that Keith is not playing the same thing over and over;
That song by McCartney is often quoted when talking about his bass lines. It's weird because it has got to be one of his songs that I loathe.
