Another thing: there was no "audience."
For "instrumental" reasons, I don't think we count that.

Is there any historical citation of the earliest concert performance in front of an audience ?

There is absolutely no sure way to know the answer. Even if you found an 4000 year old playbill in India promoting the Swami Baja performing a four hour Raga, it still wouldn't preclude a 5000 year old hollow tree trunk percusion battle of the tribe bands in Africa had happened, but all evidence washed away in time.

Well I was there but for legal reasons I cannot disclose the entertainer or the audience names because of hyrogliphic copyright.

I think thats the problem.....as the story goes.....God was the audience, and we've been suffering ever since.

Care to narrow this down to first rock concert?
