Yeah, I know, many of you are going, "Who?" I didn't know, either. I may have to look for his books. I wonder how many of the original Stones read his stuff, discovered the music and took it from there.

The first time I heard about Paul Oliver was when I read Christopher Andersen's "Jagger Unauthorized". From what I remember Mick was very fond of Oliver's "Blues Fell This Morning".

Yes, I bought his 'Story of the Blues' sometime in the 70s.
It will be in the loft, I will not have parted with it. Very well researched from what I recall.
He was a clever man, as the Guardian article fully illustrates.

Paul Oliver's "The Story Of The Blues" as also one of the first blues books I got too. Still have it.
