Favorite Jagger Duets

Just been listening to the Peter Tosh / Jagger duet on "Don't Look Back" and it still blows me away even after all these years !

The other killer Jagger duet is with Peter Wolf on 'Nothing But the Wheel" from Wolf's superb "Sleepless" release--

Any others worth taking a 2nd or 3rd listen to ? "You're So Vain" stands out, but his duets with the Jackson 5 and the one he did with Bowie never cut it for me--

I still have the 7" vinyl of the Jackson/Jagger single which I actually kind of liked at the time of release, but now it's become more of an oddball curio time capsule than anything else.

The only duet that truly matters and has stood the test of time imo is the Peter Tosh Don't Look Back cover.

Hard to call You're So Vain a duet as Mick's basically singing background, but I've always liked that tune even before I knew Mick was on it.
I remember when it was still a big hit my older sister and I with our cheap cassette deck listening to the radio and waiting for the song to come up to hit the RECORD button!

Not too familiar with the Peter Wolf solo stuff, but I love the J.Geils band and will revisit those you mention.

There was a good country tune with Dwight Yokham I heard not long ago with Mick which sounded pretty good.

I'm not a big Bono or U2 fan, but I did like Jagger's live performance with them of "Stuck in a Moment".

Everything Mick did with Peter Wolf is great.

I've recently warmed up to his Live Aid duet with Tina. Its a terrific performance. So much chemistry between them and you can tell they're having a blast doing it.

"You're So Vain" is great and Mick is mixed so prominently that I understand calling it a duet.

""I Can Feel the Fire" and "Don't Look Back" were great.

I can tolerate "State of Shock" on a good day. I've always enjoyed "Dancing in the Street" though it didn't do much for my social standing among my peers during high school.

"Nothing But the Wheel" is simply gorgeous.

The rest mean nothing to me.

I like lots of his singing on the 'Pay Pack & Follow' album w/ John Phillips. "Shes just 14", "Oh Virginia" "Zulu Warrior". Much of why I like it is because the songs smack of Stones sound; even if they (the songs) aren't tops. Jagger sounds good though.
I like him on Ron Wood's first album; mainly because IMO he sounds like he is having to physically check himself. Every time he does blast in, you can tell that he could easily annihilate Wood as a singer.

I loved Mick's duet with Florence Welch at the 02 in 2012. She bossed him around the stage and gave as good as she got. Great performance.

Silly me is still hoping for a duet with Marianne Faithful.
Turned 65 last week so you may call it a stupid romantic mood

Hairball: DP's assessment is (IMO) accurate.

Based on conversations I've had with you in the "What Are You Listening To Right Now" thread, I'm thinking that you will be happy finding not only the Jagger/Wolf duets, but also tracks that Keith guests on.

I, like you, can also say that I love the J. Geils Band. Peter's solo albums won't necessarily make you stop listening to JGB... He's different as a soloist than a "frontman". Although his first solo album was definitely a "Pop" album geared toward solo artist pop success (it's my least favorite of all of his) the rest show him slowly evolving into what I can only describe as very soulful "Americana". I highly recommend ALL of his stuff from the late 90's on. Don't get me wrong, I'm a completest, and have all of his solo albums (as well as all of the JGB albums), the first few just weren't quite as strong as the last 4 (for what it's worth, "Sleepless" which has both Mick & Keith guesting, actually made Rolling Stones Magazines top 500 of all time)

OK... enough off topic for one post...

Peace,
Mr DJA

DP knows how to pull my heart strings for sure - one of the best songs off of Light's Out, for sure!

That being said, Rocky Dijon's assessment: "Nothing But the Wheel" is simply gorgeous. is pretty much my feeling as well!

Peace,

One Jagger duet i really like is "Old Habbits Die Hard" in the version with Sheryl Crow. Especially when singing the harmony vocals the voices sound perfectly fine together. No comparison to the Dave Steward version, which I find rather not so great.

Cheers, fillmore

Forgot about that one. I thought most of his 'Alfie' stuff was really good. Was the Xmas song part of the soundtrack?

Best Mick duets for me are the ones where he shared the mic stand with Keith.
I also love the way those two used to harmonize together.

During the 2012 run when Lady GaGa did Gimme Shelter or maybe the awesome Champagne & Reefer at The Beacon in 2006 with Buddy Guy.
