Phillips portable cassette recorder

Like the one Keith talks about in Life. The one that gave rise to Jumpin Jack Flash's and Street Fighting Man's guitar sound.

Who has one? Who's seen one or knows what they looked like? What year were they made?

I have an old little one (early 70's) made by GE that boost high mic sensitivity, but... the Phillips one described by Keith has me on a mission to find out more.

Thanks for any info. peace.

I believe my parents had one... But probably the later model with a built-in limiter. I believe they bought it in the early 70s.

Some history here:

Probably looked something like this:

Sadly, "Phil-Corder" never received any songwriting credits or royalties...

The first Philips EL3300 was out in 1963, EL3301 in 1964 and EL3302 in 1965(difficult to find an accurate time line, I'm reading conflicting dates).

Some info here on those models:

Between EL3300 and ELL3301 is introduced this specification:

Electronics

Record Protection

In 1967 a newer EL3310 was introduced:

The latter (70s) Philips cassette recorder like my parents had looked like this, with a built-in microphone:

I'm pretty sure that's the same Phillips that was in my first VW Bug.

NOOO wait. Yours has a rewind button...can't be the same.

I now believe Keith used an EL3300, as the "electronic record protection" was introduced on the EL3301.
