Keith guitar question "Nylon Tele"
Posted by: goldylocks ()

in 1991 KR played a special guitar
[www.youtube.com]

it seems to be a Tele (with or without soundhole?) with Nylon strings. Does anybody has more information about this guitar? The fender page gives no info. I would like to play one, if buyable and payable. Thanks regards. See you

I think it was made by Sadowsky Guitars

That's actually not a Fender. It's a Sadowsky Electric Nylon made by Long Island guitar maker Roger Sadowsky.

And here's some info on the guitar in question:

Loved that guitar. It's best "acoustic" tone he's ever had onstage.

It is indeed a beautiful sounding guitar. Roger Sandowsky makes some great instruments.

I remember Waddy using it, or one like it, on "Locked Away" in '93.

I get the same sound with a Fender Telecoustic but not the same look.

Keith had two of those Sadowsky's [in slightly different woods ?]

His pet name for the main one was "Electric Guts"

Some of The Stones's guitars didn't stand the test of time – they were too contemporary-sounding, imo. This was one of them. It was cool back then, and the sound was a good fit for the times (An 80s sound, mainly).

It was the same with Mick's Ovation. It sounded «80s cool» on Waiting On A Friend and Let It Bleed, but I really don't wanna listen to an Ovation ever again today smiling smiley

Keith tends to have short affairs with nice "boutique" instuments from time to time...

...but he always returns to the battered old classics.
