rage against the machine was cool in the 90's and glad they supposedly won't record new music. tom morello is one of the last new guitar players that had a unique style
smashing pumpkins should have stopped recording new music when they first broke up
weezer's first album is cool. "buddy holly" and "say it ain't so" are amazing.
I have an everclear greatest hits. they have a few good tunes.
NOFX - NO everclear - Never Rancid - Punk poser idiots sum 41 - Same as above buckcherry - Not very original, but ok weezer - A couple decent catchy tunes smashing pumpkins - In the beginning rage against the machine - Yes
As has been said, they are all very different bands. Buckcherry I fully admit are kinda childish rock, but for awhile were the only think on the scene that were straight up rock. Yes, slightly unoriginal, but it got the job done and for awhile album after album were truly worth listening too. Haven't felt that way since All Night Long, and I understand the criticism against them, but if you gave them a shot they were sincere in keeping rock alive for a bit.
Weezer is totally different. Another GREAT band, with their first 5 or so albums (through Make Believe) are incredibly solid. They then put out way too many albums after that, but Weezer has their own sound and a great lyricist in Rivers. Again, maybe not everyone's style, but they have at least one song I think everyone can appreciate. Underrated band that weren't as big as a Nirvana or Pearl Jam but a foundation of that sort of 90s music, IMO. Not grunge, but just 90s alternative.
Never really got into Pumpkins or Rage.
Your first 4 are all kinda similar, and again I admit to just not knowing them. I know like A Sum 41 song but thats it. To me, they are all "fine" bands but never reached the level of a Blink 182, who are seen as childish by many but the music was solid and holds up. There success in that genre was not an accident. All those other bands wished to get to a level that Blink and only a few other bands actually achieved, IMO of course.
Don't care for any of the bands except Smashing Pumpkins. I'm actually not a fan of theirs either but I just love 1979. Probably my favourite song from the 1990's.
