How long did it take The Stones to decide to continue after Charlie? Not a dig at them but some people have a predetermined notion when a band should call it quits. In my opinion the hardest person to replace is usually the singer, there's always plenty of great musicians out there as replacements. No disrespect but I don't know why someone is expected to end with their partners. Reminds me of married couples and such. The best type partner would want the other to carry on and be happy (I hope). So, whatever happens I hope we can get some more great music from these guys. Maybe some good times ahead.
Have to disagree. Yes, I hold some magic for original members and whatnot, but I think its about much more. There is a magic between specific groups of people. Sometimes you get it with multiple people, like the Stones, but a lot of times, especially when its a band like Zeppelin that was always just the 4 of them, its a moment in time. It was starting to fade even when Bonham was still alive! Plant and Bonham were CLOSE friends. I don't think that can be discounted. Plant looking back and seeing someone else there? I think that's harder to swallow that you think when the relationship is that deep. I understand people justifying bands existing for our enjoyment these days however they want, and obviously I'm doing the same on the other side, so there's probably a happy medium.
But I don't know. There's a period where you're creative and you're a collective, and then there's a time when you're not. If Zeppelin were gonna do anything again, it should have been before they were 80. If they waited this long, I'm just not sure how good it would be. Or frankly that we need it. I'd love Jimmy to do stuff, lord knows Robert does a ton. I'm happy and encourage them to continue creating, even together. But I don't think it needs to be under the banner of Zeppelin. They were a rare act that was classy and actually meant what they said. I'm personally happy they didn't go the route of AC/DC or The Who these days, or frankly even the Stones. Its a really short list that actually does it, Rush is the latest one I can think of, and I really admire it.

Robert Plant’s latest reincarnation, a “folk group” in his own word, Saving Grace will make their North American debut in Wheeling, West Virginia tonight — almost seven years after their low-key home turf debut in Bishops Castle, January 25, 2019. They are to play 15 shows in total until Valley Center, California, November 23.
Hope anyone who goes to see them enjoy Robert’s current musical adventure and have a good time. Your firsthand account will be appreciated!

Cool to see him playing The Rain Song! Looks like a fun setlist, but I believe ticket prices were too rich for me this tour. Maybe I'll try to grab a last minute one.

Really enjoyed the Colbert interview. Seemed like they enjoyed each others company. Robert is a very cool and interesting guy. But it made me a little sad when he said he's at the end of his career, though I already heard him say that somewhere else recently. I'm going to borrow Keith's line, gold rings on him.

The C'ville concert was excellent. I enjoyed how the strings imbued nearly every song with an underlying acoustic-zeppelin flavor.
I left the performance a little confused as to why he's plastered Suzi Dian's name on everything almost equal billing with his own. She's blonde, pretty, young (imagine how young when the group formed 2019), gracious, plays accordian, and sings with Robert perfectly fine. But I don't see remotely near an Alison Krauss level talent or potential in any of it, and think titling the tour Robert Plant's Saving Grace Band would have been more fitting. (I think her non-stage surname is Dingle. And she's married to the drummer. If I was that drummer I'd keep a sharp eye on Ms. Dingle's highly attentive mentor.)
But as for the show, yes,The comment I injected on Setlist fm:
"Great show but I have to admit I was REALLY hoping for the encore Wheeling WV got. I.e. Four Sticks; Gallows Pole/Black Dog/Gallows Pole"
We got the same main set as WV did, but our encore was a Los Lobos song plus Four Sticks.
Finally, for the interested, the entire next night's show after Charlottesville is also on youtube:
