Great actor. Amazing that he's still around. One of the last of what I guess could be called the old Hollywood stars. Who can ever forget Spartacus, though, it's not everyone's cup of tea.

If you haven't seen any or many of his films, here's some to check out. They're all worth watching: The Strange Love of Martha Ivers; Out Of The Past co-starring Robert Mitchum (great noir film);The Bad and The Beautiful; Ulysses (so bad it's good); Act of Love (an overlooked gem); Paths of Glory; The Devil's Disciple co-starring Burt Lancaster; Lonely Are The Brave (one of his favorite roles); The List of Adrian Messenger; Seven Days In May (excellent).

Ace in the Hole was always a favorite of mine, among many others. Great actor indeed.

Happy 100th Birthday with good health wishes to Kirk Douglas.

Spartacus was a great film, for which we must also be grateful to Dalton Trumbo as the screenwriter. It was also a critique against the McCarthyism in America at the time; Dalton Trumbo also suffered as a consequence.

However, Kirk Douglas is a great actor, and was perfectly suited to Spartacus. I think he was also with Tony Curtis in The Vikings. However, what amuses me about the Vikings is Tony Curtis with his dark hair as a marauding Scandinavian. Talk about incongruousness.

Please try to live at least a few more weeks, Kirk, so that 2016 doesn't suck even worse.

Love the movie Spartacus, but to me, the best line is not "I am Spartacus", but Tony Curtis saying "I love you Spartacus". You didn't usually hear that expressed by men on screen at that time.
