Mick solo tour of US - would you go?

I think a theater tour could be quite successful. He might even be able to do arenas in a few cities. Might be interesting...

Yep, as long he's not wearing a cape of satin...

I'd go, yeah - I'd go and kill him!
that would mean killing the Stones.

I think (potentially) he could be more interesting doing a solo tour than a Stones tour. He'd have more songs to choose from for a start.

Sleepy City - so you think the problem with the Stones is that they're lacking songs to play? you gotta be kidding!

Not at all, but I'd also like to hear some of the neglected Jagger solo songs.

Also, it seems that most songs only work well 'live' with the Stones if they're guitar orientated; when they've attempted things like 'She's a Rainbow' Keith & Ron just add things that aren't needed. If it was a Jagger solo gig the guitarists could just sit down or leave the stage when not needed.

And anyway, Jimmy Rip can probably out-play Keith.

Of course, there'd be nothing stopping Mick featuring some Stones in his band (imagine him with Charlie & Bill but different guitar / keyboard players). I recall Roger Daltrey doing a big U.S. gig in 1994 where John Entwistle was in his band...

He should underbid his own band and compete against himself on price - charge $35 a seat for an arena show and promise a Stones-quality performance for a fraction of the price. Form his own Stones tribute band? : )

It would sell some seats .. but it would fail... and Jagger is no dummy,, and thats why his solo tour never came to the US before,, as Im sure it was studied and found not to be viable

It never came to Europe either. I guess Japan & Australia were more viable as the RS had never played Japan at the time (1988), & it had been 15 years since they'd played Australia.

Well Macca's been touring a Beatles tribute band for years now, & Roger Daltrey is currently fronting a The Who tribute band. smileys with beer

According to wikipedia, the Stones played Japan in February of '73:

Wandering Spirit is still the best Stones album since Tattoo You.

Honestly?

Yes, I would, if he played my home town.

I damn sure wouldn't travel to see him like I would for the Stones.

Sure, preferably with Jeff Beck on guitar. Quality guaranteed.

I assume he was fixated on playing big venues and putting on a big show in the 80's - there's no law that says it would have to be that sort of show.
