Buckwheat Zydeco, bandleader who helped introduce Louisiana zydeco to the world, dies at 68

He covered Beast of Burden, on a version that I think it's very interesting.

I think it's a little more than just interesting, it's absolutely fantastic. One of my favourite Stones songs ever, and this version is killer. Thanks ever so for posting .....

I watched him open for Clapton more than once... he would always shout "Let's go Zydeco" before they jammed inside a song...he was fun

He did a good version of Derek & the Dominos' "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad." I remember him doing it on the Letterman show. For reasons I no longer recall, Zydeco and other New Orleans music had a surge of mainstream popularity in the '80s and early '90s, maybe due to "The Big Easy" movie or some other movie or TV show. Buckwheat was very high-energy.

a true master from Louisiana.
If I remember well, the term Zydeco comes the famous French title Cajun song "Les Haricots sont pas salés".
