The source of this track is a tape shared on Dime 3 years ago. To my knowledge it has never been on a CD release. It is on a few fan releases.

It does not have the amazing Telecaster you hear in the other version. This is the electric piano, Charlie and Ronnie on pedal steel only. It completely breaks down at the 2:43 mark and then slowly picks back up.

Still, a fun rarity and proof of 2 versions.

Ahhh, a wonderful hypnotic take. So enjoyable.

Munichhilton, you've just made it to Bronze Legend IORR Member status.

Thank you very much!

You'll get the chance of advancing to Silver Legend IORR Member status.
Most will never get a chance. You can do it.

I might have an idea...

Any info on the creation of this instrumental. Was an impromptu jam in the studio or an or riff any one of them brought into the studio?

I don't think any of the main character's commented on it (comments on unreleased songs are rather rare, Scarlett being the exception I suppose) so there's really no way to know! Sounds like (yet another) variation on the "Munich Hilton"/"Brown Leaves" themes Keith noodled with at the time...

Actually Ian McLagan seems to know more about it based on this [www.nzentgraf.de] "Another great story reveals why I'll Let You Know, recorded at RCA in August 1978, never got it's lyrics. Recommended read!
Ian McLagan "All The Rage" (Sidgwick & Jackson, London 1998; ISBN 0283063343)"

So what's that unbooted version, anyone got a link handy?

"I'll Let You Know 1" is not on "The Harder They Come" (IMP-001 and IMP-N-001).

Please, I would like to know the CD source if you can dig it out. Thanks.

Sorry, it took me a bit of time to dig up the exact reference, so what I have is "[IMP-N-002] Rolling Stones - RCA-1978", tracks 13 and 14 of CD2.

I'm not sure what you have dug out but it's not IMP-N-002. IMP-N-002 is ACETATES 1970-1974.

My link above [tinyurl.com] is still active.

@Hurristone - not sure what to add, that's what the folder is called and a quick search finds this [www.iorr.org] - same source as the one mentioned in the second message it seems.
