If the person you are discussing with likes vocals to be "clean" and "strong" and "well mannered", I suggest that you show some good soulfoul stuff where Mick is not grunting and barking too much. The latter is certainly part of his style and should be recognized as having a great quality of its own, but I suggest you stay away from the sloppier stuff from '73-'81.

I think he did some really powerful vocal performances during '69-'71. Stray Cat Blues, Sympathy and Love In Vain from the '70 tour are perfect examples, but alas there are no high quality recordings available from that tour.

Many good examples in this thread though. I say choose depending on what style you think your discussion partner appreciates the most. Sometimes an oddity from the Stones catalog is "required" to charm someone who is not a fan of the Stones more typical stuff.

OK, Whip might be quite equal Seattle vs Hampton, but the gig as a whole, vocalwise. Take She's So Cold in Seattle, way way better vocals than Hampton. More daring, as in many numbers from that time during the tour. Let's Spend TNT is another.

From the 69-71 period, one can mention Gimme Shelter from TOTP, playback as it might be, but with live vocals on it. Utterly fantastic Jagger vocals.
Mind, "clean" Jagger vocals on rockers like Gimme Shelter wouldn't impress anybody, IMO.

Oh man, that might be better a version than the album thing, but a greatest ever Jagger vocal? I mean, come on(!)!??!
