Let's talk RARE Stones vinyl
Posted by: treaclefingers ()
Date: September 1, 2011 04:24

What is the rarest piece of Stones vinyl you own. If you don't have anything rare, then the most interesting piece.

I'll start, I have the "Heart Of Stone" US 45, with Picture Sleeve.

I also have the 45 with picture sleeve for the much maligned "Winning Ugly".

Anyone else have some rare Stones Records?

ANY STORIES around picking your vinyl up...where/when?

Sounds mostly like crap if I remember...

My favorite, although not rare. "She's So Cold" 45 with PS.

USED TO HAVE:
Necrophilia with the green cover
Claudine [dead spyder records]
Spend It So Fast

all vinyl

miss them...

Cool stuff... I thought I (might) have some rarities, but I now understand (from looking over this thread [www.iorr.org] ) that what I have is a bunch of crap... it all make me very happy to look at, but it is worth about a nickle each... I love my Spainish Sticky Fingers and my 3D SM and my 12 inch extendo mixes, and of coure the some girls original covers and my complete original exile(w/postcards)... but none of it worth a dime... and is actually all quite common... but it is still cool to me.

anyway... have you seen that other thread? [www.iorr.org]

The badasses who shared pictures and stories on that real rarities thread make my jaw not only drop, but almost fall off... things like original pressings.... rare radio station releases... etc etc .. it is pretty cool.... Thanks again to the bad ass collectors for sharing pictures and stories on that thread. [www.iorr.org]

If I figure out how to upload a photo, I'll do it.

What do you want to know? maybe I can assist, I love to see pictures.

there are 3 steps to post a pic on IORR.

1)somehow digitize the image (take a picture with a digital camera, use a(someone's) scanner, use one of those thumb drives (or a SD memory card) which can plug into the usb port (or somewhere) and then (I have heard about people going) to a kinko and paying to have it scan it, or go to an office store staples/officemax etc, and "try out" (for free) one of their scaners, temporarily store the scan on the thumb drive or SD card or whatever works)(put the picture into your computer)

2)upload to the internet from your computer to somewhere on the internet(free and simple)

3)use the [ i m g ] where picture is on the internet [ / i m g ] code to post it here..... use the "Quote This Message", on a post with an image to see what it looks like.

Thanks Max,

I'll take a photo and add that.

Regarding the other thread...it kind of is a catch-all for everything and I wanted to discuss vinyl specifically if anyone has interesting stuff.

For instance, I've collected all the promo 45's from 1971 onwards, I mean everything. I have what I think is a test pressing of Brown Sugar.

That kind of cool stuff.

I was just wondering how many other people out there might collect this stuff as maniacally as me.

I also have most of the LP catalogue from 1973 onwards in 'sealed' condition.

I'm trying to collect the 60s' stuff as well, and have a few. Hard to find obviously and very pricey!

The South Africa record, red label. Think it was made around 1965.

Too bad I've Been Lovin' You... isn't live winking smiley

It's the same studio take that's on Got Live... with audience sounds overdubbed.

BTW, is the rest of the concert the same as Got Live...?

Don't have any of the German albums. Still looking for a MONO UK Let it Bleed.
Would really like a copy of first UK, with short Tell Me.

I am trying to build up a collection of all Stones UK Decca made LP’s from the 60’s
Counting only mono / stereo + non boxed and boxed labels / major colour changes on labels / Decca + London pressed in UK, then I get in total:
Decca: 18 mono + 24 stereo LP’s
London: 5 mono + 6 stereo LP’s
A total of 53 LP’s, plus or minus one or two, depending on how you count.

Only three LP’s missing from my collection before I can say that I have a complete set of UK made 60’s Stones LP’s:
Have You Seen Your Mother LIVE, mono nonboxed Decca
Englands Newest Hitmaker, white label promo London
Flowers, stereo London label

Speaking of rare Decca LP’s. One of the hardest versions to find today is the mono pressing of Have You Seen Your Mother Live.

Unfortunately I have to give a

COUNTERFEITH WARNING

on this LP. I have recently found a fake UK Decca mono LP being offered directly to collectors by a treader from UK. Someone has just dowloaded pictures of the mono LP from my decca page, made photocopies, put them on a common US Got Live If You Want It mono version and then selling it as a real UK Decca LP. So IF you are being offered a mono HYSTML, please be careful.
More on the story can be found on the Stonesvikings forum or you can contact me privately for more information

I have all the official UK releases on Decca in mono up to Beggars Banquet. I have heard that Let It Bleed had a limited release in mono and that Stick Fingers was available as a mono promo but I have yet to ever come across a copy. Anyone have any of these?

Anyone have the website for German Decca originals? I lost it during a windows 7 upgrade and haven't been able to find it again. A lot of great info and pictures in there.
