Metal Machine Music can be a great test for new girlfriends. If she can't sit through at least a minute of it, it ain't gonna work.

They left after having to listen to the whole thing twice, alone while ab was stuck on the phone w/ an important call.

To be fair, I think I could sit through MMM far easier than I could sit through the Superheavy album

This is one of the biggest bullsh**, which I've ever heard in my entire life!!!!

Maybe Metallica have destroyed (a little bit) their career with this sh**!?!

Lou Reed sounded never so bad like on this album!

I assume the old ones were subjected to it when they were new on the scene.

Because I occasionally referred to it in conversation, I subjected a then-new girlfriend to a minute of it once. She howled at me to take it off after about 10 seconds and was megap-ssed that I made here sit through the entire minute. I should have known then and there that she wasn't a keeper.

to be honest this album hurts metallica more than lou reed. reed already cemented his legendary status long ago

Holy smokes! Maybe there really does come a time at which rock musicians should announce their retirements.

Whew! That is so sad. Love Lou, but man did he look and sound bad on Jools. White Light especially, seems like he didn't even remember it...

thats funny, senility appears to have set in a the beginning of White Light, or Lou cant read the teleprompter LOL, he reminds me of one of the two old guys on muppet show balcony.
I still think Metallica sound better than usual that straight groove suits them

The reasons why I love Stones music are the same reason whereby I deeply and utterly hate Metallica and all kinds of the heavy/speed metal bands as well as Nirvanas, Smashing Pumpkins and their presents heirs.

Just opposite concepts/categories/approachs to some aspects of life reflected in their lyrics, rythmn, swing, groove or whatever you might call them.

When I hear the Stones anything pushes my thoughts to the dark and depresive places where the other bands do.

Just an opinion.

Gave it a listen on the website. Quite possibly the single worst thing I've ever heard! I will actually have a gap in my Metallica collection. No way I'm wasting money on this thing.

Seems to have annoyed the Metallica fans more than the Lou fans, going by the outrage.

I've heard Lou do worse, to be honest, although I havent listened to much of it yet.

Cant stand heavy metal at all, so I wouldnt pretend to know the difference between a good or a bad Metallica album.

And of course, this is the first and only Metallica record to make my collection. And I'm friendly with Kirk and Robert!

There's three or four worthwhile tracks, but Junior Dad alone makes the project a success, adding a significant new song to Lou's oeuvre, which isn't easy when you've made thirty plus albums.

Give us a copy of the raw recordings since we are rock-diggers here...this album sounds like Charlie Parker with Strings and that's not exactly my favorite Charlie Parker album...

Hey Whitey! How you doing man? Long time.

Anyway, Lou ... Terrible on Jools. I saw him in London on his most recent tour and he sounded utterly f-ing dreadful. He also looked dreadful too, with a belly the size of a basketball. Plus he couldn't move around much on stage and barely played his guitar. Really sad.

That said, I may be in a tiny minority, but I really like 'Lulu'. It's a cross between the more melodic parts of The Raven and Like A Possum. Junior Dad is astonishing. Utterly amazing.

I didn't think I'd like it. I can't stand Metallica (or any metal), and early previews weren't promising, but it's a good album.
