50 Years of Stones In 2 Hours

Put myself to the challenge of editing GRRR down to a 2 hour run time to make a short, sweet sampler that touches on all phases and eras of the Stones minus the psychedelia. Damn near impossible but I think I came close....Not bothering to go in chronolological order either. I find this a very enjoyable playlist for working around the house or just to chill to some Stones for about 2 hours....

Let's Spend The Night Together
It's All Over Now
Satisfaction
Get Off Of My Cloud
19th Nervous Breakdown
Paint It Black
Under My Thumb
JJ Flash
Sympathy For The Devil
Street Fighting Man
Honky Tonk Women
Gimme Shelter
Brown Sugar
Happy
Rocks Off
Heartbreaker
It's Only Rock and Roll
Tumbling Dice
Respectable
Beast of Burden
Emotional Rescue
Start Me Up
Undercover
Harlem Shuffle
Mixed Emotions
Highwire
Love Is Strong
She Was Hot
Doom And Gloom
You Can't Always Get What You Want

In order to be representative of the Stones career, you would need to include more than one song featuring Richards on lead vocals.

This is the problem with the GRRR! compilations; Richards' vocals are hugely under-represented.

'Happy' is the sole selection on the 40 and 50 track GRRR! compilations. The 80 track version also features 'You Got The Silver'.

What a shame.

Any career-spanning compilation should include more songs sung by Richards as they have played an increasingly important part in the band's sound since the late 1960s, and the numbers sung by Richards, especially on releases in the 1980s and 1990s, offer great quality and diversity.

A 50+ track compilation should make room for 'Happy', 'Before They Make Me Run' and at least one of the following:

[*] 'Little T & A'
[*] 'The Worst'
[*] 'Thief in the Night'

A 30 track compilation, as you have above, should feature three numbers with Richards on lead vocals.

.....

Olly.

Very good playlist.
