Ronnie Wood will launch a music programme based on his radio show next year.
The Rolling Stones rocker and Absolute Radio DJ - who won the Music Personality of the Year prize at the 2011 Sony Awards - has teamed up with Sky Arts 1 HD to create 'The Ronnie Wood Show', which will see him joined in the studio by a series of well known guests from the music industry for interviews and performances.
Speaking about his first ever TV show, Ronnie, 64, said: "I've had so much fun doing my radio show and had lots of success with recent awards, so I'm really excited it's now going to TV to give the audience the chance to see behind the scenes."
Jez Nelson, Chief Executive Officer of Somethin' Else - which will produce the show - said: "We came up with the idea for the radio show with Ronnie a year ago; now that it has become an international radio hit, and won a number of awards including a Sony Gold, it is the right time to look at taking it to the next level - transferring it on to TV. While the idea of taking a radio show to TV is unusual, we think fans will find it compelling. We're really happy Sky Arts have commissioned this; the channel is really going places and it feels like a natural home for this innovative and entertaining format".
DJ Jo Whiley will also front a show for the channel 'The Jo Whiley Music Show' with James Hunt, Channel Director of Sky Arts commenting: "Jo and Ronnie are both wonderful assets to Sky Arts and we're delighted to have them on board.
'The Ronnie Wood Show' will air on Sky Arts 1 HD in February 2012 while 'The Jo Whiley Music Show' will premiere on the channel in October 2011.
