Now your dancing child with his Chinese suit he
Spoke to me, I took his flute
No, I wasn't very cute to him, was I?
But I did it, because he lied and
Because he took you for a ride
And because time was on his side and
Because I......

I always thought that Dylan had to be singing about Brian.

Hello.

The brilliant Teenage Fanclub, from their album 'Shadows', have a song called 'When I Still Have Thee'. One of the lines runs:

Oh the Rolling Stones wrote a song for me
It's a minor song, in a major key.

Always wondered which song it might be.

Declan

Father John Misty "Only Son of the Ladies Man"

When I heard the Ladies Man was dead
I saw the Rolling Stones stop moving
Saw my ancient hero on the Sunset Strip
He left behind a legacy of ruin

I heard one. The Italians will know this guy Gianni Morandi; this is from the 60's or 70's. The whole title is "C'era un ragazzo che come me amava I Beatles e I Rolling Stones". Means "There was a young guy, who like me loved the Beatles and the Stones". In the song he goes on to mention "Lady Jane" too.

Mamas and Papas "Mansions"

"One of the Guys: by the MC5!

That song was a big hit in Brazil in 1966/1967 and a portuguese version was recorded by a brazilian group named Os Incríveis (The Incredibles, in english). Joan Baez recorded it as well.

Lol...After all these years you can still discover something in a Dylan song. I never caught that...but it fits like a glove.....

Elmo, I agree love the song. I never liked the TV show but this song appeared in an episode of that 70's show. Pretty cool scene.

Also I don't know if she recorded a studio version but I have seen video of Courtney Love doing A nice live version.

I've been trying to find this song for almost forty years. I heard on a Rutland, Vermont, USA country station. Somewhere between 1978 and 1981. Riding in my parent's car, so I couldn't call the station and find the name and artist. The DJ mentioned it was the previous effort of a then current artist from her unspectacular past efforts. So likely recorded in the early 70s. But I could be off on the timeline. Obviously it has to be post Satisfaction.

Obviously a female singer or a female vocalist group.

It went something like this:

I was digging (or grooving or listening) to the Rolling Stones.

Right in the middle of Satisfaction, I turned around and you were gone.

A bit later......

you were drinking some wine with a young girl down the hall (or something like that)

If anyone knows this song, Please let me know. It's been driving me crazy for decades that I can't find this song.

If you know it. Please contact me or answer this post.

This is what I found.......can not find any other information

You took me down to Danceland
So that you could get your kicks
We were only there 'bout a drink and a half
Till you were up to your old tricksThere was a hot-lipped, pink-heeled, part-time waitress

Shakin' it across the floor
You were observin' everything she was servin'
You'd think that she had served you beforeI said, "No, no, baby
You gotta stop that stuff, yeah

No, no, baby
You ain't gonna use me up"
What makes you wanna take it
And make it so hard on me, baby?

Are you working on some kind of plan
To see how much I really love my man?
Is this your way of keeping me on my toes?
Let me know

Keeping me on my toesI was out last night in the party lights
Digging on some Rolling Stones
Well, right in the middle of "Satisfaction"
I turned around and you were goneI made a full search of the premises

Nothing left of you at all
When a good friend of mine said you were drinkin' some wine
With a young girl down the hall
I said, "No, no, baby
You gotta stop that stuff, yeah"

I said, "No, no, baby
You ain't gonna use me up"No, no, baby
You got too many names in the hat
Whoa, no, baby
You ain't gonna do like thatI said, "No, no, baby

You gotta stop that stuff, yeah
No, no, baby
You ain't gonna use me up"Whoa, no, baby
Got too many names in your hat

I said, "No, no, baby"
Oh, I ain't gonna do like thatWhat makes you wanna take it
And make it so hard on me, baby?
Are you trying to see how far I'll let you go?

Are you working on some kind of plan
To see how much I really love my man?
Is this your way of keeping me on my toes?
Let me know

This is the Hungarian band that played before the Stones in '95. They wrote a song about it with the title "Rolling Stones".

Duran Duran Lyrics
"Do You Believe In Shame"

Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in shame?
And if love can conquer all
Then why do we only feel the pain?

I heard you speak my name
Heard you singing The Stones
Maybe heard you laughing in a line of static
On my telephone

-----

Pretty cool song actually
