Ronnie is showing that he's ready to play some R n' R.

How about Keith, Mick & Charlie?

More like Kenny, Mick, Mac and Glenn.

Rod's voice is unbelievably dreadful; I'd never thought it could be THAT bad. It makes me wonder how people have the nerve to take a pop at Mick Hucknall.

Cheers,

These clips aren't representative of the gig. Rod's voice wasn't this bad during the whole concert. His voice is weaker these days for sure but he did put in quite a performance. Same goes for the musicians, they're a talented bunch especially the violinist/mandolin player. Same goes for Ronnie - his guitar sound was massive, the solo razor sharp and loud and it echoed throughout the park. The cheap camera footage doesn't do justice to the gig. I'm no Rod fan and his stage show is pretty glam / Vegas in style but I have to say it was a pretty impressive show.

Thank you for pointing this out. And I am glad you had a good time. That's all that counts.

"Ronnie and co were hinting in that breakfast TV interview the other day that Rod will show up at Cornbury on Saturday to sing a couple of numbers. It would be great if he does, but if not I'm already more than happy with Mick Hucknall."

Sure hope so cause I'm there

It was a nice show because Rod played only his best material. But he had a tough time with many tunes and by the end of the show, he could barely get his vocals out. It might have been the night air, who knows. I really don't like the band. Very "professional" - every time the lead guitar player would grimace when he bent a note, I felt like punching him in the face. The mandolin/violin player is good, but she's got this wide eyed smile that says "I'm completely insane", which might explain her spending her entire career playing back up for Rod Stewart. But, the numbers with Ronnie made it all worth it - a little spontaneity, great sound from Ron on slide, and just seeing them live together again for the first time since I was 14 years old. And, besides, 100,000 people all singing "Sailing" - I must be in London, right?

Great to see Ron in such fine form, hopefully Mick gets jealous and comes to his senses before Ron commits elsewhere...

interesting...

who's better doing the faces now, hucknall or stewart?
who looks better on stage now, hucknall or stewart
who sings better?

think it boils down to, comfy old worn slippers that dont cut/fit/wear as well as they used to and looks a little flabby and shabby
or newer slippers, with a better insole, tighter fit, no holes, but come in bright orange

i like comfy slippers, but sometimes its better to admit they just dont cut it as well anymore - a five min stroll yeah ok, but a full afternoon and yer buggered

Yeah, Rod's voice is pretty fried, and the band was so static and boring, Ronnie was the best part of the entire thing.
