1969-70 tours. When they didn't play it like the recording. It had swagger. It had attitude. It breathed.

Since then they've destroyed it.

It seems that Keith adapted The Beatles' Day Tripper riff for the 1969/70 live version and then applied it for Dancing With Mr D.

I always felt that they were playing it Otis redding style in 69

I love all of them. Especially those fantastic 2013-14-versions with Mick Taylor on acoustic guitar, he lifts the song to incredible heights, his genius was never better revealedgrinning smiley

By far the funniest and witties guy on Iorr, this HMS.

Some say his acronym stands for Highly Misfitting Stupid. It could be true and it could be untrue. We just don't know, but I think ...

Paris '67! IMHO This is the definitive live version of Satisfaction (ok the sound quality is a little rough but as far as a live performance it is an A+ ). Original Golden era Brian Jones line up and the boys are absolutely on fire and totally ripping it up. This is proof of the incredible greatness of the original band and Mick's voice has never sounded better. Nothing post 68 even comes close for me.

You say it all, what I was thinking about, while reading through the thread!

Edited: I have to add that Mick's voice has been great on many, many other occasions as well.

That double stop intro that Keith used during The Bigger Bang tour was terrible.

Strange, I've never liked this song played live. The tension on the recorded version just never seems to be captured.

Re: Satisfaction- Best live version

I have always liked the version from Nuernberg , Germany on the 'Bridges to Babylon Tour' . I think that it was June 13th,1998.

They started out on fire that night before,I believe,Jagger ran into vocal problems a few songs later in the set.

My only real complaint with the performance would be that it was a little bit shorter than most of the versions from earlier on in the tour.

Myself I have got it on an old vinyl boot with the title @#$%& AND SUCKING. ( The first word is one of the infamous four-letter-words plus "ing" ). I don't know how to get hold of it now, though. Much missed former poster on IORR, His Majesty, once presented vital information on further live material from Paris in the same period. As deactivated poster, however, one cannot use search function on his poster's name. Maybe on the title of the vinyl boot. Now writing on a smartphone I am unable to do that in another window.

Edit: Sensationally, I see that you are reinstated, His Majesty!
