The article came up about three hours ago. I don't know how to give a link.
It says the Stones top grossing act of the last few months also.

If I could dig down deep in my heart. IORR Live Licks.

I'd also love to know the cumulative total for all ancillary products, starting with the 2010 Exile Deluxe in 2010. (I would include the 2009 T.A.M.I. DVD, but there's a lot of artists on that one).

Unfortunately, we will lose to U2 again. Remember ABB grossed over 550 million, but sadly, the "Claw" destroyed our gross with over 780 million...U2, a horrible group by any objective standards, seems to resonate with the clueless masses out there today...

Gross is impressive...However after all tour expenses, quite a different figure.

And guess what? U2 continues to look up to the Stones to make Concerts more exciting. They are doing multi Nights in the same City. Like the Stones did on 40 Licks and 50 and Counting. They also have a Center Stage that the Stones have used since Babylon 1997. Bono just loves to follow and copy the BEST!

Only in the U.S since 2010:
- About 3.2 million albums sold
- More than 8 million digital songs
- 550.000 / 600.000 DVD/Videos
- 9 albums charting on the Billboard 200
- 12 DVD's charting on Billboard's Top Music Videos chart

Actually I did see U2 on their Boy Tour (1st album) April 1981 @ Sam's in downtown Minneapolis. Sam's is now called 1st Avenue (where Prince filmed "Purple Rain"). They played about an hour and performed 3 songs twice. Because they ran out of material. A decent Show for a new band. I'm guessing before your time? Never had the desire to see U2 again.

sounds like you saw them before they got really good performing. i saw them in 87 and they were just ok, but in 90/91 they were amazing. they had really stepped up their live act. i love and loved the stones much more, but u2 in 90/91 was comparable to the stones in 89. nothing compared to the stones in their prime of course.

I think England should nationalize the Rolling Stones the way Prime Minister Heath nationalized Rolls Royce in 1971.

I'm thinking of kick-starting a crowd funding project to help fund their retirement.

I've have paid and continue to pay for The Stones. If they don't have any money in their retirement accounts, its their problem.

Maybe they will have to summon The Prince from the afterlife for more financial advise,

Some girl just left me with a lethal dose.

Thanks.

I think you can go back to 2009 and the GYYYO 40th anniversary deluxe release as the time this new gravy train started.

It's been a good run since then!

Thanks. One thing you never see are T-shirt and related merchandise figures. I would imagine they would have to be 1st all time with that, considering they've been selling it since the 60s.

U2 would be filling up 80k seats in stadiums. I just don't get
their appeal. They are not in any way rock and roll.

I knew U2 used a B- stage before the Stones I think they also used one on the 1997 tour.
Bare in mind that wikipedia does not always have its facts strait on a lot of subjects. I do beleive Brian Adams used a B stage in the late 80's on one of his tours. Wiki does not mention him

Buying a ticket to see U2? Me not. They don't swing (poop drummer) and Lousy guitarist that Edge. Boring...zzzzzz. Could not even play a proper Gimme Shelter RIFF at MSG when MICK JAGGER joined a few years back. They had to put on an overdub guitar on the official release.>grinning smiley<

I reckon Larry Mullen is the most overrated drummer in rock history!
I can't believe that other artists use him for sessions.
A drum machine would have more feel!
