Why Cooder, Taylor could have probably come up with a decent slide solo on that. Dont get me wrong I like what Cooder has done, I just want to know if they tried anything else.

It was recorded before Taylor joined, job done, why mess with an already great track?

Basically I think they left it as is for the same reasons Taylor didn't play on most Let It Bleed era tracks recorded before he joined. They didn't need any extra guitar contribution.

Honky Tonk is one exception, but maybe there are other takes/alternative versions with some of his overdubs in the vaults.

I didnt know it went back that far, it seems to fit Sticky Fingers far to easily.

Those were great recording sessions in february and march 1969 in London.
Songs that make your blood freeze and boil. A creative zenith.

I guess with Decca pulling Mariannes version from the shops in early 1969 they knew it would cause further trouble with Decca if they released it on Let It Bleed too so held it over till they had their own label.

Don't forget April which is when we know for sure Ry was around thanks to Jamming With Edward. Ry says he was only there for a month or so, so sometime between March - May.
