Can you really pick out the biggest mistake? Isn't it all just a series of mistakes defining our lives?
Who's to say what is and what isn't a mistake? In everyone's life there's roads not taken, but it's impossible to know if not taking any of them was a mistake, since you can't know for certain what would have happened if you HAD taken them. I like to think everything worked out exactly the way it was supposed to, even if by all appearances that might not seem to be the case.

Here's a mistake: a guy who works with my best friend told him about the time he was at a Little League game in 1975. There were some parents of a kid on the other team, watching their 9-year old play. As they were doing this, they were not paying attention to what their other son, who was about 2 and a half, was doing. My buddies friend saw that the kid was climbing on the back of the bleachers, and was in danger of falling. He was about to say something to the parents, but for some reason decided he shouldn't tell people how to raise their kids, and said nothing. The game went on. The parents watched the game. About 10 minutes later, there was a loud thud. The boy had fallen from the top of the bleacher. And he was dead.
My friend's pal says that for the past 35 years not a day goes by that he doesn't think of it, and wished that he had spoken up. Sure, it wasn't his kid, but he saw the danger and didn't say a word. He says that was a mistake.
There was a story yesterday about a 7 year old kid who was mauled at a zoo in Kansas by a leopard. Turns out he climbed over a fence and got too close to a cage. Wasn't that a mistake? If there were adults watching, should they not have spoken up?
Or is it all a "road not taken?"

I'd call it natural selection. Where were the 7-year-old's parents while their son was climbing into a leopard cage? Stupid people have stupid kids. It's like when you see a mother duck leading her ducklings across a highway and an 18-wheeler comes along and wipes them all out. Smart ducks don't make their nests right next to the highway. Their babies are the ones that survive and get to grow up and make more smart ducks.

So you would just sit back and watch the kid climb the fence? That was the point of my first example, that the guy who didn't speak up regretted it for the rest of his life.

When I "allowed" myself to get very addicted to having sex with 2 girls at the same time years ago. It started off innocent enough and then I got way too serious about it- making all these "plans"... Woman had to be tall, exotic, busty, one blond, one brunette.... one white, one latina, one asian, one black.... it got really intense and maybe even sick (to some - my cousin thought I was sick. But she's just uptight) I eventually got "off the ride" by seeing how empty it all was... what really put me off was I couldn't stand girls "texting" in the middle of oral sex - how rude !!!
Or eating from a bag of chips held behind your head while your knees are tremblimg in a bus shelter..............happened to a friend of a friend and he was paying!!!!!Quote
