So are we going to be seeing Mick trying out some of these moves onstage? (You'll have to watch this one on Youtube):

Must say that until now I had no idea who Janelle Monae might be...

me neither. and that video is so great. can't believe that as far as
i know none of the cable channels around here have played it, when it is
of the same ilk of what they do play, katy perry gaga etc, but so much
better. thanks to mick yet again for pointing me in the right direction.

now i remember where i saw her, on mick's grammy night, she performed
with bruno mars. i remember liking her, but liking bruno mars even more.
gee, i hope its a trend, including raphael saddiq too. a bit more soul
in the hip hop soup is just what the doctor ordered, i think.

...The ROLLING STONE threw some impressive shapes at a BRUNO MARS gig in New York on Wednesday. He was one step away from doing the worm.
The rocker, who was at the Roseland Ballroom checking out Bruno and his support act JANELLE MONAE, took the attention away from the stage with his moves.
Afterwards there was a flurry of appreciative tweets about him.
Let's face it - no one can strut, pout and clap their hands like Mick.

I saw her open for Arcade Fire in Toronto last Summer. She and her band played after a great roots-rock band called The Sadies and before Arcade Fire. They seemed like a retro-80s-showy-R&B act. She had a talented band, but the stage presence was a turn off. I hate to use the description someone once told me of her, but it is semi-accurate: 'a Diva female version of Prince'....but Prince plays guitar and can be 1000 times more soulful. But I am sure she will be a star, because you don't have to be soulful or authentic to be a star.

I'm not all that taken with the music, but oh boy, can she dance!

She's been around for a few years. I wanna say she's from Atlanta Georgia. Janelle has made a splash on the R&B scene here in the states. There's James Brown riff's and moves all over this tune.

My daughters told me she's been nominated for MTV, Grammy and BET awards. Not to shabby. Given some time, she could develop into a big act.

I knew Mick would love her
