Hi!

I´m returning to the vinyl expeience and I´m looking for a new turntable. But I don´t want to spend more than 500-600 euros and i need some advice. Can anybody help me with a new good cheap turntable...? I´ve got in my list Rega RP1, Rega RP-3, Pro Ject Debut Carbon and things like this..... Can anybody give me some help? Aniybody who has one similar or somebody with knowledge about turntables.
I´ve got almost all the Stones vinyls waiting.....and mostly blues and rock. Infinity speakers right now

Thanks

You sound like you're totally on the right track.

An alternative, might be to consider getting an older rig for a great price, ie a Technics, and a new cartridge.

I don't think there's a bad decision though, enjoy!

In general the Rega rp1 or rp3 are better then the Project players. But which Rega depends on the quality of your system. Best choice would be a rp3 with a system like Goldring 1042. Other system fits also great. But you have to know which one. But this is a price range around 1000€ and more.

So if you have an amp or speakers with the same price/quality level take rp3, lower pricerange take rp1. But Rega is the right choice soundwise. Many people doesn`t like Rega cause the player don`t look "expensive", but they are highly recommended.

Think about a seperate phono preamp. Always better then using the line in of your amp. Sometimes a different world if you choose the right one.

Hope it helps a bit, Tom

Just bought this for $89 Black Friday special, for my 8 year old son for Christmas:

Now THAT will be the easiest setup ever!

OK true, probably not audiophile quality, but he will enjoy it immensely!

I bet he will. What a great present!

BTW, I have a three-year-old son and he is fascinated by LPs. When he gets a few years older, I will get him something like this record player.

Very well done, treacle! If my parents had given me a present like this when I was 8 years old I'm pretty sure I would be very happy, and even could listen to the Stones years before than I did.

Thanks everybody!
Since it´s Black Friday I´ve found the Rega RP3 at a good price. I think I´m gonna catch it.
It seems to be a great turntable for this price.....an a step up from the rp1?

If you can get the RP3..go for it..The RP1 is no slouch at playing music, but the RP3 really does pull it all together..

Great idea...my son has started his own vinyl collection, so giving him his own turntable gives him the autonomy to play any time he wants...I would've liked that if I were 8 too!

I was tempted to buy one for myself, but that would have taken the specialness of his.
