Are you in any way allowed to inform others about the case and what you think of the outcome?

Someone asked this question already, and I've never actually served on a jury before, but it's my understanding that jurors are instructed not to discuss cases outside of the jury room until the case is resolved.

I suppose in certain cases, jurors could be instructed not to discuss a case even after it has been resolved.
Perhaps someone with legal experience in the U.S. can better explain.

Jazz Fest certainly is a valid reason to not be involved in such a mostly worthless thing in my eyes.

Absolutely!

Come on, we all know the literary heights that Spanish Tony reached in "Up And Down With The Rolling Stones" would make the finest jury duty reading.

As far as I know, during or before the trial, jurors should not talk about the case with each other, with other persons, or allow other people to talk about it in their presence.

And the winner is:

Thanks to those who suggested this book!
I've been wanting to read this for a while.
Apparently, it's out of print. I had to order it from a used book dealer.

I've gotten through the first 76 pages so far, LOL in the jury room while reading.
I suppose some people think I'm crazy when they see me busting out laughing.
Maybe I'll never get picked for a jury! grinning smiley

Mick Jagger is a Charles Dickens fan, so I'll say Charles Dickens' BLEAK HOUSE. It's an utterly cynical take on the English legal system (quite similar to America's legal system).

I'd wish to add this one:

And On Piano Nicky Hopkins By Julian Dawson

Very good read about a thin man who's contributed so much to many a Stone's song.

My copy is used, but it's in very good condition (almost new.)

Be careful. I saw some advertised at $70 USD.
I paid less than $10 USD for mine.

Don't you find it hard to concentrate on your book with all the witness hearings, discussion of points of law etc. etc. going on in the background?

No, no, no !

Where I live, you have to spend a lot of time waiting in a "jury pool" before you are called to actually enter a court room.
Then you are interviewed by lawyers who decide if you will sit on the jury for a trial.

I need to report for duty every Tuesday & Thursday this month, and so far I have yet to be called to a court room.
I'm already most of the way through the book with all the time I've spent sitting around waiting.

If DSK was in New Orleans, then it could have been!

I'm serving jury duty at Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, which sees cases like robbery, prostitution, rape, murder, etc.

Remember, if it doesn't fit, you must acquit.

Thanks for clarifying that - maybe re-reading your opening post would have dispelled my visions of "11 Angry Men (plus one man Nankering with the Stones)".
