Ronnie's slide playing on Little Red Rooster is soulful and beautiful, imo.
The best solo on LYL must be Hot Stuff. It's even better than Mandel's playing on the album.
If You Can't Rock Me and YCAGWYW deserve a mention, too.
Only side 3? Personally, I enjoy Fingerprint File (with great bass from Wood), Star Star, IORR, HTW, You Gotta Move and the songs mentioned above very much.

The Mocambo side, his solo on YCAGWYW is terrible, one of the worst solos ever.

Think Ronnie's best moments on LYL are tracks on side 3, especially on "Creckin Up"......but I love his quick licks/solos all over Brown Sugar as well......
He had far better moments on the 1975 tour - especially on the unedited YCAGWYW versions from that year.... The great guitar-duelling on for instance Gimme Shelter in Buffalo June 15th are also something that blows LYL away - also when thinking just about Wood's parts, and not the entire band
Thanks for posting that article....Munichhilton....haven't seen it before

Well, we haven't heard the whole Mocambo gig yet. Some of the other songs were great (Dance Little Sister), but there are a few lame songs in there as well. It just might be that the shows weren't that good and consistent to make that Mocambo-album?

No, Wood played it live. Wyman played synth. Taylor played bass on the studio version.

I didn't know that. We live and learn. Thank you.

Tumbling Dice...this might be the only boring version of TD ever recorded.

Ive always had a soft spot for This version of TD. It may be that it was the first live version I heard from back in the day, before the vegas era. It's funky and rough around the edges. the way mick sings it is such a departure from the album, that really blew me away. The organ from billly gives it a reggea feel. Had I been introduced to a '72 tour version first maybe I'd feel different, I don't know. But to this day it still sounds pretty damn good to me. Am I the only one who likes this version?
