I totally disagree TOD, because I've seen the amount of beer consumed by these crazed " fans" who cheer and scream at EVERYTHING and there's a direct correlation between booze and screaming! You can disagree but alcohol does remove inhabitions and that's simply a fact. Look, I scream and cheer too, I don't sit there like a zombie, but constant screaming is distracting for those fans who actually want to hear the music...you actually disagree with that??

In 1982 at Wembley it was wild down the front. At Twickenham in 2006...as soon as you put seats in people want to sit down...all the way through the show.

At Twickenham in 2006 (actually my first Stones show) I had a seat way up in the nosebleeds - and what hit me was that the moment the first notes of JJF rang out, the whole section (me too) was instantly on its feet and stayed that way for the next 2 hours.... Maybe there were parts of the stadium where people stayed sat, but not where I was.

These days I do appreciate having a seat available, but I don't usually spend more time sitting on it than I can help.

My first show was the second Twickenham show in '06 and I was shocked at the tepid reaction The Stones got from the crowd during the first half of the show. However as soon as the warhorses set in everybody rose up and started swaying and cheering the band.It almost seemed like everything was premediated...

Some may sit, and some may stand.

I will always stand and rock out.

I don't really care about the others around me so long as they don't get in my way!

It's not my job to make sure they have a good time, that's up to them!

Rock on!

Stones shows are too dangerous these days.....one guy bit another guy and his dentures flew out....another tussle had two guys smashing each other with their canes....and another ripped another's toupe off!.....i fear for my life

Thought I'd contribute my tuppence worth:
Rome 2007 was pretty wild with the big rush to the front from the nosebleeds, with security outnumbered and retreated
O2 second show good too, but maybe that was just my (excellent) seat
Twickers 2006 quite quiet
From what I've seen Buenos aires is the wildest crowd in the world, bar none. On Four Flicks it looked like a steaming cauldron in the rain - just wished I could have been there

Not true; In Atlantic City people were awestruck by Jaggers vocal performance. I was shocked too. People have posted about this already.

And nobody booed, skipstone (unless you were there somewhere doing your best to make yourself heard). Quite a lot sang along - or tried to - although clearly most didn't know it.

it's a well-known fact that people sing along to songs they hate. it's therapy; a coping strategy.

i was there at twickenham and sang along. mick was fine. still, the song sucks bigtime. arguably their most horrific song of all time....no amount of fine singing could save it.

For some reason it works well live. I don't like the song to listen to, however, the one time I saw it performed live it was well received and even I enjoyed it, if that makes any sense?

Yeah, that has to be it. Come to think of it I prefer their live versions over their studio versions for a vast majority of their songs to be perfectly honest.

Enthusiasm reigned at all the Stones shows I've been to (starting in the 80's). But sometimes (and not just at Stones shows) one sourpuss will stay seated with a mopey look who wants to bring everybody around him/her down. At a non-Stones show, that type woman was in the front row at an absolutely hilarious stand-up I saw of Darrell Hammond (known mainly from SNL), and he kept giving this sourpuss of a woman sh*t from stage (because the rest of the crowd was laughing a lot) and finally he embarrassed this woman into dropping her big sourpuss demeanor. She deserved the sh*t he was giving her.
