OT: Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks...Worth Seeing?
Posted by: JMoisica ()

I love Faces-era Rod Stewart. I really love Fleetwood Mac. I think its an interesting combo. But it also sounds like this could potentially be a cheesy Vegas act. Has anyone seen them live? Is it worth it? Any input is welcome.

Judging by the setlists, stay at home and listen to An Old Raincoat and Rumours with a decent bottle of wine. The gig will be horrific.

Pretty short sets for what they're charging.

This would have been killer, in 1980.

Good to know. Then I save my pennies for needed to trip to see my son. And the rest for next year. Cause if the boys do make it out I'm not missing it.

Maybe not even then. Rod Stewart was already in full disco mode in 1980.

i know some folks who've been to a show on this tour and were very impressed. if you're fans of either or both, sounds like you'd not be disappointed.

its peter and an orchestra. no rock band setup at all. every song he performs is in a style like his covers album SCRATCH MY BACK

Rod should record some fresh new tracks not keep touring on his hits or American Songbook which is booooooring.

Wonder if Rod has thought about taking up bovine insemination?

Rod's voice, his only strong point in the 70s and early 80s, is shot.

But maybe Stevie can still twirl around and act all "witchy" and stuff.

he's a singer - what other strong points would he need? and, i disagree- his voice sounds great these days.

I've seen Waddy, Al, and Jimmy many times at The Joint in Los Angeles, and they never disappoint...This will be my first time seeing Stevie...I saw Rod once in somewhere in the 1980s=2000s

Rods set list isnt very interesting and I cant believe people still want to hear "Do YA Think I'm Sexy" or "Hot Legs"

you could say the same things about the stones setlist and "tumbling dice" and "miss you" (to name a couple of 'em)

I certainly agree with you about "Miss You" but I can't put either one of those Rod songs in the same universe with "Tumbling Dice". That's like comparing "Do The Hokey Pokey" to "Hey Jude"....

well, i wasn't trying to draw comparisons on the relative merits of the songs - i happen to like all four mentioned. the comparison is that both sets of songs are eons old and have been witnessed on stage countless times, yet folks still flock to see them.

A Vegas act as someone has stated in about right. Rod should play his music.12 of his songs and 5 from others leaves me at home on this tour. "Love Train" as an opener leaves me shocked. Awful choice of openers.

But maybe Rod can still kick soccer balls into the audience and act all "sexy" and stuff.
