Official videos from the 14 on fire tour

I thought it would be nice with a thread about these videos. I think the Germany video is cool:

Berlin & Dusseldorf

Nice isn`t it? Love it, and not just because I was in the Waldbuhne, but also because of all the happy fans.

And where is the official video from Madrid?

Ray
15 and counting. No stopping. Stockholm next.

couldn't the Stones release another DVD Box Set (is bound to come
in some way) this time with all the concerts? i'm thinking of just
taking the video that is fed live to the three jumbotrons and editing
it into widescreen? would be good enough for me. i seriously consider
the recent tour on fire enough that no further editing will be required.
perhaps throw a few birdview shots and fan closeups in there.

I like that idea, except that I'm sure the Stones would find a way to jack up the price...

about that i don't care. i didn't pay for Sweet Summer Sun,
yet i own it in such quality that the file takes up 4,7GB
furthermore, my Four Flicks is so scratched it barely plays.

Make a box set of each leg.

That would be like Kissology, too many repeated songs! I want the Trabendo and Echoplex gigs instead and some nice rehearsal footage of songs not played on stage.

4.7 GB is standard DVD quality for a recording of that time length.

In other words, 4.7 GB will allow only 30-40 minutes (roughly) of 1080p High Definition .

As far as a DVD goes,or really any physical disc, handle it only by the outer edges and center ring + do not touch the bottom surface and it will not become scratched .

Blu-ray discs have an extra layer of scratch protection compared to a DVD.

Also,if you only use digital files on a hard drive, card,or USB stick .... I would make sure that you have at least one back-up copy,if not two back-up copies.

They kind of played out the DVD release with the Hyde Park thing. There can't possibly be enough Stones audience to buy almost the exact same setlist from what is essentially the same tour.

thanks for the detailed information. i know how to handle optical
disks though. but imagine you bought Four Flicks as a 15year old.
it is boundto be close to destroyed by now. HD-downloads available, anyone?

again the American view. i would watch it not for the rare song material,
but for the moments of joy i saw. and the ones i missed. sorry to say, but
the last batch of concerts was full of that. 2013, not so much. though i
said it already, i would pay for a HD-download, not an actual mega boxset.

What about a Madrid video release?

I was just checkin' on Facebook the tour updates about our beloved Stones the other day and someone pointed out that a video from Madrid was missing. The Rolling Stones (well, the community manager) answered with just a simple "Coming soon... It's a special one".

I don't find likely a big DVD/Blu-Ray release. No extra filming crew and/or gear inside the Stadium that night... But, what about some downloadable artifact?

So, what do you thik? Possible release or they just forgot to post a video on FB and they are making excuses? My money is on the last answer. My wishful thinking is on the first... >grinning smiley<

Well, I'd like to see them do what Springsteen did earlier this year and add downloads of shows to the 'Store' section of their website. I looked at the setlist, not much special except for some highlights (LARS cover, namely). Were you there? If you were, do you think it'd make for a good release?

I was there and yes, probably would make a good release. Can't really compare with other shows from the tour since I have only attended this one. But the music, the band and the audience were great so, why not?

Another thing, but not that unusual in big gigs: many people was allowed to get into the golden circle without the proper ticket... maybe to make it look good for video and the band as well? Anyway, I think that the Rome gig is probably the most 'cinematic' of this tour because of the venue...

On the idea of making every show available via download, I always liked that and many bands have been doing it for years now. I would support that, it's technically easy these days. But I just don't think that the Stones are particularly fond of that idea.

Why release almost the same thing as last year?
I would prefer something spanning over 2012-2014 instead with more rare songs:

This video collection would be great:

thumbs up No problem. We all have off-days! Just figured while we're talking about rare ones, might as well mention this one!

Actually, they always have a lot of good stuff in store when a tour is over. If this one would have been 10-15 years ago, there would probably be a great boxset in the works...

Great! But I would have added MR from Roskilde.

There were plenty of gigs on this tour with 'Filming will be happening. If you don't want to be filmed, leave now ' posters, ..............which made me laugh. smiling smiley

Didn't notice them at Madrid, but with all their cameras taking film of the band and the crowd, wouldn't be surprised if something turned up.

A featured gig on a DVD box set probably. >grinning smiley<

^ I actually saw the 'filming' poster in Madrid (they were on the corridors as you were accessing the seating area) - but understood they were more of a "liability standard" throughout the tour than any solid sign of professional recording going on.

Wish I'd be wrong and 'something' gets released officially, even just some snippets on a tour documentary, for instance.
