i've got it labelled as Brussels (and it was taken by Laurens van Houten - always good to credit the photographers!)
indeed it doesn't match the shots i have from either of the Frankfurt shows, but it's the only stage shot i've got of Keith at Brussels.
there were two shows there, so maybe that's why it doesn't match your other Brussels shots?

...How can we be sure it's Keith?!
Might be Rudolph Valentino...

he doesn't look like he is suffering from a swollen face which is the reason I understood he was all wrapped up.

... where did you read that that was the reason for the scarf (or that he had his face wrapped up for the whole show)?

since i've never read anything like that it's hard for me to explain why anyone might say it,
but it might be that someone was simply speculating about the photo.
and he might have had the scarf over his face in a photo for the same reason he wore a turban in Berne in 1973
or the scarves over his face in those "sheik" shots from Toronto 1977: because he felt like it.

On a side note....

Strange thing about the "Richards with Chuck Berry poster" from 1976.
I've always thought that the photo came from Brussels 1976. But after doing a research, I see that Berry didn't play in Brussels before may 28th 1976.

And by then.....Rolling Stones were heading from London to The Hague.
So I'm guessing that the "Berry photo" comes from London May 21st, as both Chuck and Rolling Stones did a concert in the same city that day.

Then again; there's footage of Keith (looking just like he does in the photo below) coming from Brussels 1976.
Somebody knows the exact date Keith met Chuck in 1976 ?
....if it WAS in Brussels, it could explain his swollen face....Chuck probably hit him!

well ... you can usually find posters before shows actually occur, right?
that photo is from a French-speaking city - you can tell by the banque and change signs
so i don't see a reason to think it isn't Brussels - it's just that Keith isn't emerging from a Chuck show.
(i actually never thought he was - i always thought that was an LP he's waving, just because he feels like it :E)

You've got a point, With Sssoul - I've keep the photo filed under "may 6th 1976" then. I guess the DVD footage isn't telling any lies.

But.....that's no LP, it's a poster. Maybe a poster for the "forthcoming Chuck Berry concert" - makes sense.

smile: okay, i'm not arguing - my notion that it was an LP was just a sidelight

Hard for me to tell. The angle of the shot might throw the perception off some. European LPs did have very thin covers compared to US LPs. If its a concert poster he seems to be holding it kinda odd and it doesnt reflect much information if it was advertising a show (like address of venue or price of tkts or dates) My guess would be an LP but its just a guess..

In March 1972 Chuck recorded a TV show entitled Six Two Five for BBC Television. As said before, one of the songs performed (South of the Border) was later released on a Chess single. The remaining songs can be found on various bootleg records and CDs like the one shown (Maybelline MBL 676, also on WOLF 2120 CD ). Chuck additionally performs Roll Over Beethoven, Sweet Little Sixteen, Memphis, Beer Drinking Woman, Let it Rock, Mean Old World, Carol, Liverpool Drive, Nadine, Bye Bye Johnny, Bon Soir Cherie, and Johnny B. Goode.

Seems like I was wrong, I suppose it is an LP, as Parislocksmith posted the info for, above.

I just thought that it didn't look like an LP, sizewise or shapewise, but that's probably just the angle of which the photo was taken from

Even I make mistakes !
