Going back to '69 and to the present, it seems the Stones always followed an American tour with a UK/European one (not sure about '70 but I know they did in '71).
I must say ABB was unique in that you had US/Canada/South America in '05-06
followed by UK/Europe summer '06 then back to the US/Canada in fall '06 followed by UK/Europe summer '07.
Why did they not tour UK/Europe in '79 following the Some Girls American tour of '78?

and I guess there was not enough time to organise a tour at that point.
And his sentence was the concert for the Blind?

Bill Wyman suffered a serious back injury from a fall after the last show of the 1978 tour so there was no question of a tour for him in 1979.

but the tour would have been planned well before his injury - and it wasn't cos of the pending keith trial....

Isnt this a contradiction from your first post when you said:

I meant Wyman couldn't have toured in 1979 if they wanted to do so. If I recall correctly, the 1982 tour wasn't booked until rather late in the day (early 1982) that was why Mac was unavailable since in late December 1981 with an 1982 Stones tour only speculative, he signed to tour with Bonnie Raitt. Tours were not as lavish an undertaking in the seventies and early eighties as they became. I doubt Ronnie had arena dates for the Spring booked in October 1978 either. Things came together much quicker in those days. Less people involved, less hassle, and lower ticket prices made that possible.

i don't see how. the trial was scheduled for october '78 and the stones were planning a potential life without keith at that point. wyman's injury couldn't have had an affect on tour plans that never existed.

Was Darryl still too young at that point to assume the mantel?
