Deathgod,thanks for the heads up.
In less than 24 hours, I've purchased Bobby Keys and Stones tix!
Decided to break the bank and purchase the $578 tix in section 7.

I'd still like to know where they intend to fit all the extra people buying these newly released seats?

These shows were allegedly sold out.

I'm not having some fat guy sitting in my lap so that the promoters can get richer.
Does anyone know how they magically find more seats in an area of fixed volume?

They just milked one cow (the package cow, the one with the fat milk),
and now they throw the unsold package seats on the market and milk this cow
(the milk has less fat, but is still expensive).

These are unsold VIP tickets. You have to give the promoters credit. Only with the Rolling Stones can they get folks to feel they've gotten a bargain when they pay $600 for a seat in the stands.

This must be a marketing ploy.

With the demand, if I had a seat or package for sale, I'd make it freely available to whoever wanted to pay me for it. My version of logic anyway.

Hopefully you won't have to put up with the panic sales near day of the show. It was pretty bad in the states. You had people sitting in the same section who paid hundreds of dollars less. & this wasn't the scalpers. Blatantly unfair to penalize the true fans who bought tickets immediately.

Hope that all IORR'ans who don't have seats are able to get in. No pit tickets, but assuming that these are VIP packages that didn't sell, they should be very nice seats even for the price (AU$595). Really strange that they are also offering Cat 2 seats. That's great for people who don't want to pay the Cat 1 price, but I wonder where these seats came from - they didn't have VIP Packages with Cat 2 seats (or did they?)

I don't disagree that this is where next week's tickets most probably originate (the stuff about finalising production information is bulldust), but what then was the origin of the ticket drop 10 days ago?

The point I was making about finalising production is that is one of the excuses that promoters trot out to sell even more tickets. In reality for the Stones the packages obviously haven't been that successful.....

The seats being offered last week were definitely VIP seats, but they were primarily singles. This latest sale is probably a bulk of VIP seats as the promoter has decided that packages are not selling well enough. It's a little early, so it's possible promoters will hold back the best remaining seats to sell with VIP packages.

Definitely not production set up. I have seen great seat come up for sale once a stage has been put in place, though. I remember for the pay per view show at Newark, a couple rows opened up right behind where they placed the cameras.

So let me understand this, they take the best seats and put them up for sale for exhorbitant prices, based on the maximum prices they think the market will bear. Then, as the show date nears, they lower prices on these seats so they don't get stuck with unsold tickets.

Am I describing (a) Viagogo or (b) the Stones?

Wow!

The second (big) ticket drop is happening as I type this.

Out of curiosity I've been "trying" to get tickets, and to log in to the Ticketek site. (I got my tickets 10 days ago).

At no stage did the site seem slow (or slower than usual), and 40 minutes after the start of the Melbourne ticket drop I'm able to get groups of 4 tickets in nice places.

Has the demand evaporated?

The Frontier mailing says "due to finalisation of production information"... That's of course plausible in a big arena show, but doesn't in any way cover for the fact that rows of 4 seats in the middle of random blocks around the arena are (or were) available.

I guess that anyone that suceeds in selling us tickets for more than $1,000 and then more, really does think that we are stupid!

Has to be.

I guess that "production information" might be true after all. The VIP packages are way overpriced for the demand!

What a surprise! The tickets they could not sell for rip off prices on the secondary market now magically go back on sale. What a scam! If there are mugs out there that buy them though, they will get away with it time and time again! Wait till the last minute dummies! You will get a very good ticket for less than face value!
