With Stones I think the 78 tour was his best. Better than 75/76. His solos were a lot of flutter picking in 76. But in 78 that was a GREAT guitar duo.

Hmmm, yes & no. The first bootleg I ever owned from the '78 tour (back in the early 80s) was Memphis '78, & I always cringed everytime I heard his playing on 'Love In Vain'. I'm no Taylor fanatic, but Ronnie's slide often sounds like it's something he only picked up a fortnight ago compared to Taylor's beautiful playing.

Love In Vain was a case where a song was so defined by a particular member (Taylor in this case) that they should have gracefully retired it after he left. Every version with Ron Wood only makes me think of how much I miss Taylor. They should have come up with a blues cover that fits Ronnie's style and ability a bit more.
