Rolling Stones confessional

i'm bored. here's a new topic.
we all love the Stones. some of us are super hardcore fans with a million items of memorabilia, others are not.
here's the place to confess your Rolling Stones sins. i think we're under the assumption that everyone on this forum has heard every album and song. but perhaps you've been living a lie this whole time? is there an album you've never heard? or a song? or maybe you've never seen them in concert? or whatever the case may be. here's your chance to confess something without being judged! (not too harshly, i hope). maybe there aren't that many things to confess. but regardless, i'll start.

i've never heard the remastered edition of Exile
i've never read Keith's book.

I'm reading Keith's book...it is a tough slough.

I have no intention of reading Keefs book, might spoil the fandom for me. Also, I'm not buying the singles box. But look forward to any interesting future releases. Like the Some Girls project. Hope they won't short change us on that one.

the latest remastering of exile? sounds about the same as the previous mastering, so your sin is easily forgiven.

i have never given a rat's petute about their private lives....from what i have read, they seem like boring egomaniacs who wouldn't deserve my attention if not for their music....

i've never heard the bonus disc of Exile is what i truly meant (don't hurt me)
also, i've never heard any of their solo albums (except keith's and mick taylor's eponymous album)

well, once again, forgiveness is in the offing - except for the fact keith has never had an eponymous album...so you really couldn't have missed much there, but you are drawing some raised eyebrows....

Plundered My Soul is excellent. You shouldn't miss that one. Also, there's a few more great ones on that exile bonus disc.

I've never seen them live. But I've been honest about that.

I'm not a hard core collector. I have the official albums in form or another.
I only own three bootlegs.

And it only took me 30 minutes to beat hubby at Rolling Stones Trivial Pursuit.

I'm not actually a Moroccan percussionist who worked with the band regularly from 1967-1971. By the time I was born, the real Rocky Dijon had played his last session with the band a couple months earlier (unless he's the Moroccan playing on "Shattered").

Can't get into LIFE, boring, poorly written. EXILE remastered is great, and I love the DVD " Stones IN Exile". Really great!!

It was only last weekend that I heard the Stones BBC recordings, which a friend loaned to me. Live in the studio, right? On some songs there's an audience. But it was unbelievable, particularly Route 66. Someone a while back said they'd never heard a good live version of The Spider and The Fly. Well, I would've agreed to that until I heard the BBC recordings.

I've never listened to one song from A Bigger Bang.
Only saw them in concert once (1989).

I've still never heard the album "December's Children" - I'm kinda saving getting it for a special occassion now, maybe a gift to myself when I turn 50 in a few months.

I'm in no hurry to read LIFE - I expect I'll eventually find a used copy cheap somewhere, and will do so then.

I have never taken the 6th string off of any of my guitars, and have never tuned any of them to open g.

I'm a big Stones fan but every post-1981 album they have made is foggy for me. Of course I know the better-known songs, but the rest goes in one ear and out the other ear. I still know lots of songs from the modern era but for a lot of them I can't tell you want album they are on.

Part of that stems from the fact that the "album listening experience" is basically over. I never really liked CDs and now they are obsolete!

I let a mono boxed British Between the Buttons go: never seen another copy again!
How could I miss it?

I must admit to loving 'Shine A Light' - even though it get's severely criticised here I loved it, and still do! To me the Stones sound raw & raucous throughout. Sure, some of Jagger's nasal vocals / over enunciating takes away from certain tracks, but overall, I love it.

Also loved 'Stones In Exile' DVD.

And, besides the truly magnificent albums they've made, I'm a huge fan of the divisive albums 'Emotional Rescue' & most of 'UnderCover'.

I don't want them to tour again.
I fear it wouldn't be as good as before and I wouldn't like them to destroy their reputation of best rock band ever

I've never had a copy of "Flashpoint" in any format. Kinda silly when every once in a long while I fancy to purchase bootlegs.

Ok - this is sad: I once picked up a partially smoked Marlboro from the side of the stage when it fell from the headstock of Mick Taylor's guitar at a gig in London, 20 odd years ago.

I still have it in a little cardboard box. I actually considered smoking it once...smoking smiley

So many sins to confess that I should be permanetly banned from the forum ...

To start, I too love Shine a Light. For certain aspects, it is my fave Stones live album.

I like Dirty Work (the album).

I do not like some acclaimed Vegas Era material: Continental Drift, The Worst, Love is Strong, Saint of Me, She saw me coming are examples.

I never liked Coming Down Again

Of course, I love Ron Wood's guitarplaying (for what matters I am also a huge fan of MT).

I loved "Life"

I missed the Winos' gig when they came to Italy

Let it bleed (the album) is not in my top 5 best stones albums.

The Mother Baby/PLane, Nigh together / Ruby tuesday, We love you / Dandelion are more unreplaceable/defining singles in the history of the band than JJF

Could go on,

C

(a) I think the band peaked both creatively & as a truly exciting live act during 1966 / early 1967.

(2) I prefer 'Wandering Spirit' to any post-TY Stones album.

(3) I've never managed to listen to all of 'Main Offender'.

I'm not that impressed of The Rolling Stones music made after 'Beggars Banquet' with a few exceptions of course...smoking smiley But Stones is still my band since they were my first idols...cool smiley First time I saw them live was 1982..

There's also a proper live concert version available on one of the Paris '66 bootlegs, albeit it in ropey quality.
