I'd have to explain it in Gaelic and I'm not sure that would help you.

I was never a big whiskey drinker but I remember sneaking some Wild Turkey out of my Dad's liquor cabinet when I was a teenager. That was some potent stuff.

My cocktail of choice recently has been an old-fashioned: simple sweet and to the point. Normally I make them with Canadian Club, but I'm curious to try them with rye. Canadian whiskey's btw do not classify strictly as rye (rye has to be made from 51% rye, while Canadian Whiskey's often do not have that amount rye, largely more corn) so I want to know what people's preferences are for a good rye.
My absolutle favorite: Rye whiskey! Van Winkle Family Reserve is the best in my opinion, but over here in Holland expensive. Templeton, Old Potrero and Rittenhouse are very good too.
But the go to rye would be Old Overholt. It is one of the cheapest, but it just has a very good, spicey taste. Good for blending with ginger ale, and good for drinking pure.
Mathijs
Overholt has an interesting history...the drink of choice for Doc Holliday:

its good to be anywhere
I used to like Wild Turkey 101 back when it was aged 8 years and had a real cork stopper. Then all of the sudden it was aged 3 years and had a plastic twist off cap.

Would be a scotch connoisseur if I had the cash. However, as a poor man, I enjoy Chivas and Cutty Sark as reasonably priced scotches. I like Inver House as a cheap scotch.
Canadian - Crown Royal
Bourbon - Jim Beam
Basic I know, but there it is.
