Forty years of Rolling Stones Records

It seems a record for an (active?) band.

They didn't go to far in signing and managing other artists.

It is not a big surprise. They have enough of trouble managing their own band.

not sure it really counts as a record label... since they just licensed all their material to larger companies anyway.

It was a record label, they just had a bigger label distribute their albums, it stopped existing after Flashpoint (and the Flashpoint singles) was released.

So it only lasted 20 years essentially since there was no Rolling Stones Records anymore when they signed with Virgin.

Rolling Stones Records died twenty years ago. For the past twenty years, they have never used "Rolling Stones Records." Musidor continues to slap the logo on product and Promotone continues to control the copyrights but Rolling Stones Records did not survive the Columbia contract.
