I do not know if this was already posted before, but I tried and not found any related thread.

A friend of mine went to Paris some time ago and brought me a photo of the Stones in concert at the Olympia in 1964. From what this friend told me the photographer sold copies of photographs he had taken at the Olympia in shows and other entertainment places where bands of the 60s used to perform.

Looking at Google it seemed to me that this picture could be taken by a French photographer named Jean-Louis Rancurel, but I'm not sure. I think it would be great to hear something from the frenchies, that perhaps can tell something about it.

Jean-Louis Rancurel isn't as known as Dominique Tarle for instance but he shot a lot of bands in the 60ies, including Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix

According to Nico Zentgraf's site, the boys played at Olympia in 20th october 1964 and 16th, 17th and 18th april 1965.

The photo I posted here was purchased by a friend of mine in Paris last year and the man who sold it told him that it was taken in 1964.

Didn't Honestman post some of JL Rancurel's shots a few weeks ago ?

I couldn't find any other photos of the Stones shot by him, maybe somebody can post something here.

There is a bootleg called The Rolling Stones at Olympia. The concert was in 17/04/1965.

The Stones didn´t play in France in 1964. The band played in Paris at Olympia on April 16, 17 and 18/1965.

They did, on 20th October 1964.

For the L'Olympia gig in 1964 Brian used his Vox teardrop in to A Vox AC100, Keith used his Epiphone Cssino in to an AC30.

For the shows that have photos from the 3 L'Olympia dates in 1965 Brian once again used his Vox teardrop as well as Keith's Epiphone casino(tuned to open G for LRR), Keith used his bigsby les Paul. They Both used Fender Showman amplifiers.

I think you're right. Just saw these photos from 20th october 1964 at Olympia, and Mick is wearing a grey suit:

What happens is that whoever sold the picture for my friend told him it was taken in 1964, but he certainly must have been mistaken about the date.
