You don't suppose that's changed do you?

That would be a shame to have a self conscious stone...

whaddya think of a bare-chested charlie? maybe with a dog-collar and some leather bracelets? we need to "rockify" him a little.

I wonder if Mick is embarrassed today about his choice of wardrobe back then. Football pants, kneepads, rolled up shirt. Not very rock and roll, is it tongue sticking out smiley

I understand the 'athletic wear' approach, but the knee pads seemed a bit unneeded, unless he was running the cables with the roadies during setup?

Jagger's look in '81 is absolutely iconic. I find it hilarious that people would retroactively question it's effectiveness 31 years later.

Seriously...you sound like my Grandpa did in 1981. Have a nice stay at the home.

The knee pads could have been for MJs enocounters with Bowie

There was far better in 1981, but fortunately these pictures are particularly quiet

Good surreal joke! thumbs up

What I meant was about the very nature of rock photos : lots of iconic pix may well have been taken during excruciating performances.

I'm forced to agree. I love all 4 stones lineups, but this is the one that is most cohesive and just simply rocked the best....

As well they should have been, I loved the way they looked then, especially Keith. He looked so healthy and strong in 81', which is just a few short years from how awful he looked in 79' with New Barbarians.

A tee shirt worn by Keith Richards on stage during The Rolling Stones' 1981 American tour with the word 'Hell' printed in red and intentionally ripped down the middle (Est: USD $1,000-$2,000) is on display at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, California.

It actually sold for $7,040.00 just last month

Shoulder pads didn't become big until the late 80's. Think Steel Wheels.

Keith had an 'anguleuse musculature" at the time. ALmost a vampire. Love it.
The t shirt sale is amazing. I wonder what's the story behind. How was it in hands of the seller ?

The Nov 24th show surely isn't one of the better 1981 shows. But it's still good. I think this exact show is the show they released that terrific "signed" KR/MJ photo as a part of that "fan club box" in the early 80s. Anybody knows which photo I'm speaking of? It's a terrific photo anyway.
