Poor New f-ing Jersey. The Stones only invaded New York for one of the three concerts, and that was in Brooklyn. The main event was in New Jersey.

I'd say they deserve the cover. 50 years, the musical event of the century! Especially considering the magazine stole the name from The Rolling Stones who stole it from Muddy Waters who probably stole it from someone else..
