Stones tour in 2011/2012 - hope v expectation

Will they, won't they ? Personally, despite all the rumours past - and indeed present, I can't say that I'm particularly 'expecting' an official announcement that they've got plans to tour. There's a side of me that consistently thinks that 26th August 2007 'could possibly' have been the last time. And as much as another side of me is 'hoping' that they will tour again, that hope is tinged with apprehension. Would it turn out to be just 'one tour too many' ? A bit of a doube edged sword scenario all in all.

Anyone else kinda feel the same or think along the same lines ?

I'm convinced they will tour, until Mick and Keith say it's over.

I know the felling. At least we were in the O2 that night! Not that there's much comfort in that now.
But now they've booked places to play in Europe... And they've visited places of interrest (places they COULD consider playing). When I say "they", I mean people from the Stones org. Not Mick & Keith!
We already know that band members have been asked to be ready next summer.

I'm expecting an official announcement in the not so distant future.
Keeping my fingers crossed - and hoping the financial crisis hasn't taken all their curage! There IS money around - but we're kind of picky regarding what we want to lash out our money on. A Stones tour would definitely be among my priorities.

I don't know about that, I personally take great comfort from having been at all three of those O2 shows, because IF (and this is the cautious side of me talking now) those shows do turn out to have been 'the last time', how on earth could you not feel comforted by the fact that you were there ?

As for this ....

<<< But now they've booked places to play in Europe ... And they've visited places of interrest (places they COULD consider playing). When I say "they", I mean people from the Stones org. Not Mick & Keith! We already know that band members have been asked to be ready next summer. >>>

Well, if it's all true (and I'm not suggesting you're making it up, but I'm just allowing myself a reasonable amount of scepticism that all this NECESSARILY means they ARE gonna tour for sure 100 percent) ... then I guess you're not out of line in thinking the signs are good. But good signs and an official announcement are worlds apart, so if you don't mind ... I'll ignore the former and wait for the latter. And if it comes, then .... hot smiley hot smiley hot smiley and if it doesn't, then cool smiley cool smiley cool smiley because I was there on 26 August 2007 !!!

They (Stones org) may have looked around, backing musicians may have been advised, but fact is that nothing -NADA- (venues, musicians and other staff) has been booked, no contracts have been made already.

In your opinion, if they'll tour Europe next summer(June or July),there will be also a new studio album, and when they'll start to record it (Have they time enough to make an album)?!

Would have to agree, don't think the money side of things is the 'greatest consideration' this time around (if they're even thinking about another time around that's to say); it's much much more to do with musicality, individual abilities and resilience, energy and performance levels ... all that good stuff. I can't see them embarking upon ANYTHING unless they themselves first and foremostly truly believe they will emerge 'triumphant' for want of a better expression, however you wish to define that. Any significant doubts in THEIR minds, and we AIN'T gonna see 'em. Not now, not ever, that's what I think.

So that's the new one eh? Can you guarantee that? No. And you won't. You or anyone else can't. Because nothing has been announced. Nothing official has been announced. Nobody knows anything. It is what it is.

Now, based on the title of this one, hope v expectation, I do hope they tour. But it's very reserved. I also hope they (Keith) play worth the price of admission. That has to be heavily considered for people. I would hope so.

I have a hunch they WILL tour. I also have a hunch most of us, based on the level of the perfs delivered, will then claim they regret the band decided to tour.

i just hope they will give good performances.
ofcourse they will tour.
they have enough songs in the vaults, a album will be there in no-time.
i fear they will play for huge amounts of people and the tickets will cost loads of money.
anyway, i will see them, not in Amsterdam, but London or Paris, although i live in Holland.
bye jeroen

Hope : it's on.

Expectation : very high.

Thought (Xmas is a time for tgought): Plans are well advanced within The Stones. I mean OK we go for 30 dates in 2011 and same in 2012. Which is quite a high number of shows and will span over 4-5 monthes per year ( 2 shows per week). It will a stadium tour with a stage half the one used for ABB ( mmoney, money, crisis)

Finance : discussion are tough btw lawyers to find out an insurance company which will have enough guts to put some "dimes" on such an adventure.

OF COURSE I HAVE GREAT EXPECTATIONS, BUT I AM GETTING TIRED ABOUT THINGS LIKE "if the economy is bad they won't tour"....
u2, springsteen, dave matthews, ac-dc, kiss, tom petty and many others toured this year or last year, and the economy is very bad.
if they have something to tell, they tour, if not it is better if they stay home.
if this is the point, i am very happy london 2007 was their last concert.
I mean, we had 2 brand new albums in 13 years, 1 in 12 years (1998-2010)....
i am afraid they don't have so many things to tell us.

The better place where I have seen great concerts, B.Dylan, N.Young, Santana....the last one R.Stewart this summer.
Last but no least a perfect acoustics in every place to seat.
