English nearly always use he/she, him/her for mammals, especially pets( Inc. reptiles, amphibians & birds where the sex is known) and also always 'she' for a boat or ship, very occaisionally you might hear someone call their car 'she' (but they're are usually nut jobs), I've never heard it for a tree though I have to admit....(Do only female olive trees produce fruit and Swiss knows this maybe ?)Quote

I recalled how much you liked my last year pic, swiss, that's why I posted this one .
btw,how come you said "she" when talking about a non human ?
Last September I had some English lessons -the teacher was real good btw - and I asked him whether or not I shoul say "it" for .......an object,an animal,a pet etc.

That's wrong, it's Osmanthus americanus, because Osmanthus is masculine and thus 'he'. I'm sure you see I'm right when you figure this out.

Of course you're right ,kleermaker .I made a kind of mispelling ...
I guess I wrote " Americana " instead of " Americanus" because I was thinking of America while writting my post .
btw, kleermaker, no offense meant but how come you always bent over backwards being so perfect ?
There's no "I" in "Team"

But it's not important, though not important things are mostly the most interesting ones, strange enough.
