Just picked up a work of fiction by Ry Cooder -- LOS ANGELES STORIES
It is about old LA...not music. A Raymond Chandler feel about it.

Ry is a man of many talents. His "Chavez Ravine" album is a great trek through LA's sleazy history. Kind of like a musical "Chinatown".
