most underrated album?

Apologies if there's already a thread on this. Had a look using the 'search' function but couldn't find one....

What do all you iorr members think is the Stones most underrated album?

For me, it's got to be 'Black and Blue'. I've never understood why this album gets such short-shrift, even among Stones fans. Is it because the guest musicians / auditioning guitarists don't give it the feeling of being a 'true' Stones album? Or is it the measly 8 tracks?
I think it's the Stones most eclectic album (rock / reggae / funk) and their last really interesting one. Would have been a great final album too. After this came a couple of years of bandwagon-jumping (punk and disco on the overrated Some Girls, a clumsy attempt to repeat the formula on Emotional Rescue) followed by the 30-year travelling circus of a greatest hits show....

Anyway, just my opinion. What do you all think......?

I'll have to give it a listen again because I haven't for a while but my impression is that most of the tracks on Black and Blue outstay their welcome (whether because they were using it as a test session for guitarists or because they had an album to fill and didn't have many songs or whatever). I'll give it another try.

For me, it has to be Their Satanic Majesties Request. It's not as consistent as The Piper at the Gates of Dawn or Sgt. Pepper, of course, but it's still three quarters of one of the best albums you've ever heard. Citadel and 2000LYFH go places no-one else's songs do.

...by myself (yep; I plead guilty!): Aftermath.
I barely gave that gem a listen, the past 20-30 years.
Until I finaly, recently, became completely blown away by this complete & utter masterpiece.
My oh my: the list seems neverending. What brilliance our boys have consistently given us...

...and furthermore, by Stonesfans, I think Black & Blue should (deserves to) get a bit more appreciation.

And finally, underrated imho by the general public these days: Sticky Fingers is slowly but surely getting blown way by the (bit cliché) admiration for "Exile" these days (yes, the general public can only handle óne masterpiece at the time, so it seems!).

Interesting to see so many mentions for Satanic Majesties. I've been listening to that one a lot too recently. Same as B & B, it's the Stones doing something a bit different than what they're known for....

Haven't listened to Undercover for many, many years. To be honest, aside from the title track, I can't remember much about it at all. I'll give it another go this week....

Their Satanic.
Maybe a good reason for the Stones to do something "out of the box" again as their final send off?

Undercover - the songs are fantastic..

Dirty Work - a brilliant album, judged by its cover to be their worst.. conservative @#$%& who just want Mick T. material, shut up! grinning smiley

Emotional Rescur - the album might be abit boring but for me who have listened to this album alot think its really great! A silent album that a few people give creds to, afterall shes So Cold is on it!

It doesn't. Most people here seem to love it. I dislike it for the reasons you state and others. I think it sounds too clinical and does not have any particular feeling to it. Just a collection of songs, and most not very good ones.
