I have read a lot of bits and pieces from here and there, from the book on this site and a few other places. I think that the book will into more detail about events that we only got of glimmer of before. This I like.
What I would like to know is, how many interviews has Keef done to promote this book. He has been on everything and in every newspaper. Good for him because he has been very gracious every time. Ask Keef a question and the anwswer goes from his heart.
My friends know I worship the Stones. Whenver Keef is on TV,I get a call from a friend who wants to make sure that I don't miss it. After almost 50 years, the Stones still rule.

I received my copy from Amazon.com on Saturday and I can say that it's pretty damn good so far... Best line of the first chapter: "The Bible Belt used to be much tighter in those days"

And another rant on Mick's "insecurities" while talking about the giant c**k during the 1975 tour...

Strong? sounds quite fair to me.

"But while this book’s passages about Mr. Jagger have made lots of headlines, especially in England, they are not all that different from the volleys of accusations the two have exchanged over the years, and Mr. Richards adds that deep down he and Mr. Jagger remain brothers. "

After about one hour and a half with this book (German edition) I cannot withhold any longer my deepest regrets to the RS fan community that this book ever happened. Its writing style is exceptionally bad, so that one wonders all the time, what far better outcome would have been achieved, if the man himself had written it alone (i.e. unedited spoken into a recorder).

The photos are all insignificant crap, there is perhaps not a single one that I had not seen before. The print is cheap, any editorial work unnoticeable. Just another book to rest on your shelf.

My advice: Save the money, listen to some KR interview (they are all way better than any line I read so far in the book) or buy some of KR´s records. For its the music not writing this man is loved and famous for.

Do the girls still scream, when you perform on stage? KR: Not on stage, but when I perform, yeah.

Going in to Waterstones and picking up my reserved copy today! Can't wait for it.
I don't really mind people having negative opinions because I read the Times extracts and loved them. People have lots of negative views on this book without having read it, based on tabloid stories but you really shouldn't judge a book you haven't read because you see a negative story in some rag, written by a bitter journo that hasn't read the book themselves.

Give it a chance is all I'm saying.

... you're talking about the German version, yes? sorry if it's not a good read in German,
but what makes you think that applies to the original version as well?

My copy arrived last night (amazon pre-order, 2 day shipping). I'm 111 pages in and let's just say I'm very unhappy about having to go to work today. It's absolutely incredible - I think Doris might be the most colorful character of them all. So far, it's honest, poignant, and wickedly, hysterically funny.

So far the photos are the only pages I have seen through and more than half of them are unseen to date, many of them coming from private archives (i.e. Jane Rose's and Patti Hansen's). I wonder where you did see them before.
I think both photo sections are great, especially the second one.

Damn. The store I preordered from doesn't have it in yet. I ordered from the same Waterstones as Gazza so if he sees this, don't bother going down today, it'll be a fruitless trip. sad smiley
