Wow it's funny he would pick JJF to close with. You'd think he'd choose something he had involvement in making. A lot of decent choices out there.

Harm,
We didn't really have time to talk after the 2nd show because I had a cab turning up any minute, that's why I just handed you back the camera and said goodbye. Sorry about that. But as you have no doubt noticed by now, I took absolutely loads of pictures. The only problem with being front of stage there was that the stage was actually disproportionally high as compared to the floor level, I don't think I've attended a theatre or arena in many years where you're kind of "looking up" to quite THAT degree. Anyway, that aside ... I did periodically check what I took on playback, they looked pretty OK to me, I immediately deleted some that were out of focus, because the AF function couldn't handle either the fact that the stage lighting was changing too abruptly, and/or because Ronnie bloody Wood was jumping around too much !!! Look forward to seein' them in any case. Are you going to upload them onto this thread ?
How did you get on with big old SLR from where you were ? You were saying that security stopped you in the 1st show, but were more relaxed in the 2nd.

My best shots are the ones when I forgot to turn off the flash.
Can someone please remind me of the <img thing. Never seem to remember.

What makes me laugh is people using flash in a large stadium. Hundereds of flashes going off throughout the concert, yet none of the pics will come out that well as flash is pointless from so far off. Perhaps they can't turn it off.
I find using a high-sensitity mode (if the camera has one) is good at a dark concert.

Sure, if your camera has manual functionality, then great .... select 800 or 1000 ISO, shutter speed of say 1/200, and with luck if the stage is reasonably illuminated, the camera should produce an aperture value of F4, F5.6, F8, which is a good compromise for "depth of field". But there's not too many truly compact digitals that have that level of manual functionality, although Harm's little brand new Nikon did, I have to say. My own little Panasonic Lumix has got a f***ing great grain of dust on the sensor, which basically means that unless Panasonic can take it to bits and clean it for a modest price, it's knackered - not worth doing. So I might look at that little Nikon for my next compact digital. Then again, a full size digital SLR with a 70-200 zoom has got a certain appeal too ........................ !!! It just ain't that user friendly for smuggling into - and using in - rock n' roll shows !!

A pleasure Monsieur Harm, a pleasure. I'm glad I was able to help ... and what a f***ing idiot was I not to have brought my own camera. It was obviously the excitement of the day, my brain stopped working at some point !!
